I have been working at Magnuson Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very easy job, food vouchers, continuously meet new people from all over the world, discounted nights at the hotel, great coworkers

    Cons

Managing 3 hotels at once by yourself, very understaffed, company doesn't like to pay over for what you worked, manager quick to find flaws in employees and exploit them

I have been working at Magnuson Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay-to-work ratio seeing as how there is little to do however being a franchise its up to the owner/affiliates to actually dictate whether or not the job is good or not

    Cons

In the hotel industry I've seen you deal more work unhappy guests and about half the time if not more. Its because of 3rd party booking companies dropping the ball... They do so very very often

    Advice to Management

Focus on insuring proper training in hotel checkin software. The training feature at my hotel has never been run in 7 years

I worked at Magnuson Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wasn't so much managed by an owner bur the hank who employed Leisure Corp to manage all activities of the horel. Leisure had good people to work for but never received a raise or much appreciation for a great job.

    Cons

Never showed much appreciation, raises or other benefits for a job well done.

    Advice to Management

Show appreciation to your great employees that give your guests the best stay of their lives.

I worked at Magnuson Hotels full-time

    Pros

there aren't any good reasons, now that the place has been sold

    Cons

the ownership has never run a hotel before. they have no clue how to run one, but they act like they know everything. the representative who lives on site treats everyone with bitter sarcasm. not a pleasant man to work for.

    Advice to Management

either learn what you are doing, or learn how to listen to the people you have working for you who do know what they're doing.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Overall a fun atmosphere to work in. Most everyone got along as it was a small office. Company offered a profit share quarterly bonus program which was a nice perk.

    Cons

No room for advancement that I saw, partially due to it being such a small office. I found it very boring place from the work standpoint. Many of the customers, though they used our service, were very resistant to actually listen to our advice.

    Pros

Did not have the pressures of a franchise hotel. It was a great place for a first time General Manager. The owner didn't bother you much.

    Cons

The hotel is over 40 years old and it looks like it. The owners were not willing to pay for the upgrades it needed. It was not a place with a future.
