I worked at Magnusson Klemencic Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interesting projects. Talented people, and research is encouraged. Profit-sharing and bonus structures are good. Good career options once you have their name on your resume.

    Cons

Severe work-life balance issues. Single engineers in their 20s can stay until 11 PM on a regular basis. That doesn't work for most parents, and they don't pay enough so that the second parent can stay at home. Low pay, substandard benefits. Very few women in leadership. Lots of talk about having a great culture, but no work goes into improving it.

    Advice to Management

Learn to value employees other than 20-something men, and stop shaping your whole company to cater to them. Hire to staff for the actual workload. Honestly reflect on company culture and expectations. And if you don't improve anything else, at least pay better.

I worked at Magnusson Klemencic Associates full-time

    Pros

Benefits, profit sharing, and projects. Being apart of some of the biggest projects that are being built and seeing how they are designed.

    Cons

poor pay, long hours, and lack of training. If you are an engineer, they is plenty of training. If you are not engineer, then you are out of luck compared to the resources that are given to the engineers.

    Advice to Management

Put more attention to your employees, pay them what they are worth. replace upper management with people that can actual communicate with employees and not be so awkward.

At MKA you get to work on some very interesting projects and work with top tier clients (architects/developers/construction teams). The benefits are generous, including profit sharing and healthy annual bonuses. Your colleagues are very intelligent and hard-working.

I have been working at Magnusson Klemencic Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I started working here 7 weeks ago and it has been the most positive office I've been in since moving to Seattle in 2001.
You are surrounded by some of the nicest people I have ever met in a workplace environment. A beautiful office in the middle of the theatre district in downtown Seattle, centrally located near busses and light rail stations. A wonderful benefits package and amazing bonuses!! This is really an absolute dream job for me!

    Cons

I can't think of one single con. Honestly.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! You guys are awesome!

Watching good managers becoming over-worked and burned out was difficult to witness.
