I have been working at Maines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Their benefits program is top-notch. They cycle through various benefit websites and programs, but always with the intention of using the best options available to them. They do offer tuition reimbursement programs. The medical, dental and vision benefits are great, and are only seconded by what I had while at a college.

There is maternity leave available with job security.

Initially an employee has 1 week vacation, plus sick time. In year 2, you get 2 weeks vacation, and that bumps up to 3 weeks vacation at year 5.

There is an effort to be as paperless as possible. The use of SAP creates a very connected environment where multiple departments have a seamless and transparent view of each other's activities, making it take less time to find required information.

They try to keep our computers current with an automatic updated equipment lease every 3 years to each desk, and we are currently using Windows 10. So, they are trying to stay in the "now." The IT department keeps us running smoothly with a wireless campus network supporting internet capabilities, outlook email, SAP and other integrated software packages.

    Cons

They expect a lot from you. No desk is truly boring, and almost everyone has a full workload.

People can get lost in the large community of workers and their individual needs overlooked either to their benefit or detriment. I imagine this is true of almost any larger body of employees, though.

    I worked at Maines full-time

    Pros

Willing to premote within the company.

    Cons

Lack of leadership and direction from upper managment. Very unorganized and understaffed, workloads were unrealistic. Under paid for positions.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the leadership team. Either they are overworked or doing the bare minimum, will take credit for others work as their own . Not trust worthy.

I worked at Maines full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits, holidays off, good work environment

    Cons

Never received yearly raises as promised due to constant wage freezes, Upper management and owners don't care about employees. Company was way better when the father was alive. Now the company is going down hill fast...probably won't be around much longer. They are letting one guy and his father drive the company into the ground (well the retail stores side). Massive turnover rate...can't keep good employees.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees instead of just yourself. Stop being greedy and share some of the profit with the employees, they have lives and families too. All you do is take away from your employees, try giving sometimes. You took the discount from 15% off to 10% off. You stopped giving turkeys at Thanksgiving and Gift Cards at Christmas. Now you just give a gift card. You conveniently place wage freezes when it's time for reviews, so that no one can get their overly due deserved raise which is suppose to be up to 5%, but you tell managers not to give more than 3% to anyone, and if they do give someone more, then they have to cut someone else to make up for what they gave them and average out at 3%.

I worked at Maines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The manual labor will make you lose weight. Believe it or not, that's not a bad fringe benefit to have.

    Cons

Paycheck is ALWAYS SHORT!!! 12 hour days making just under $120 a day. Lots of bending over and lifting up boxes all day. Work six days a week and no personal time for your own life.

    Advice to Management

    Quit ripping your employees off!!!!
