I worked at Maines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Expierence. Better than OTR no touch freight. Building relationships with customers. Driving a 10 speed cascadia day cab. Money isnt too bad. No one can take the added months of accident free expierence from you.

    Cons

Allot. No one in management whom you talk to on a regular basis have ever driven a truck. They really dont deserve their job. Its like the prerequesite is anything but the job they are managing.

Training. Was trained by an over qualified driver. Trainer M. Tought me how to do it the way its supposed to be done. Similar product together. Nicely organized. He had plenty of CDL expierence. OTR, with company for years. Overqualified because he should be in management. Deserves the job. Period. Had to be "certified" to be on my own through trainer "A". Compareable to a security guard who thinks hes a cop. Uneducated when it comes to the equiptment hes operating. Told me i would damage the tractor using the jake brakes which he called "emergency brakes". Lol.

Their local routes are sweet. But some routes are impossible to finish within your 14/hr clock. Not impossible every time. But lets say humans make mistakes and they dont plan for them(on some routes). They will have you work a 15/hr shift and be confused as to why you cant be there within 9 hours. "You have a 10hr reset?". Lol

Equiptment is like fighting a pack of wolves. For dolleys. But once you get some you dont get overly fatigued.

They have this image they like to play instead of just being honest.

    Advice to Management

To whom? New york? Make the senior drivers managers. No managers should be anything but a former driver. The problems will fix themselves.

I have been working at Maines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Case Pick pays well.
Lift weights and do cardio all day.
    New and refurbished equipment.
Once you know how to do your job, management will let you do it. No interference.

    Cons

    WAGE FREEZE.
Promotions are pay cuts, back to 10-11 dollars an hour.
You will work your summers away.
You will work every holiday and/or eve.
You don't control the hours you work, you wont know when you're going to be done until you're 3-6 hours into your shift.
You will always be a selector here, until you get old and retrain on forklift or loading.

    Advice to Management

The warehouse is not a well oiled machine. It's like everyone has been trying to grease it with sand. No surprise it can't break 1% profitability.
Stop hiring anyone who can pass a drug test and physical, stop hiring the sand.
Offer better pay for supervisory/management positions so your good employees will take them instead of the lazy. There are few who will take a pay cut with good intentions.

I have been working at Maines full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you enjoy setting your own rules and times you come to work, then this is the perfect job for you!

    Cons

No organization what so ever! Hourly people set all the rules. When they start, when they leave and how much work they will do.

    Advice to Management

Get on one page and have the courage to stick together and make firm decisions. Find experienced leadership to lead.

I have been working at Maines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None minus getting some experience in if your new they'll hire anyone.

    Cons

Crappy management poor pay per mile, cheap, lie to you and say they will send you with a helper just to get you to come in for a route. When you arrive you have no helper. Will make you sleep in your sleeper don't want to pay a hotel. Attempt to intimidate people into doing routes by saying bring your uniforms in if you don't do it. They think there in a position to fire people and they aren't, can't keep a driver since they don't treat them with respect. Dispactch feels entitled especially transportation managment apparently they can do it all, no need for drivers just third party companys and send helpers with these drivers.

    Advice to Management

Fire and rehire everyone in the office don't know what there doing and lie way to much. You can call sometimes and get forwarded all day because no one knows what there doing or is in meetings all day. Do not respect holidays or there drivers all they care about is there customers and will run you to the ground.

I worked at Maines (More than a year)

    Pros

    Inside Employees are very helpful.

    Cons

Extremely unorganized. Management lies to customers and employees. Lots of screaming and micro managing. Very stressful environment when it should be a fun. Management takes credit for everything and NO Blame for anything. NOT a team environment

    Advice to Management

Really see who your managers are. Get in the field and visit accounts. The owners are never seen. Get into the 20th century.

I worked at Maines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are no real pros to this job. As the title states, you are overworked and underpaid.

    Cons

I was in management and we worked 70-80 hours a week.
Expected to work 6 days a week every week.
    No work/home life balance.
Upper management tells you to do what you need to get the job done but when you do what is necessary, you get reprimanded.
Drivers run the company. They don't follow supervisors instructions. When they disagree with the supervisor, they contact upper management and get what they want.

    Advice to Management

Management is inexperienced and under qualified.
Driver's run the institution and get whatever they want because company is short staffed.
    Set schedules and follow them.
Reprimand drivers when they mess up or don't follow instructions.
