I worked at Maines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You can get your Cdl for free if you stay there 2 years so you get miles under your belt when you quit for any other job.

    Cons

The entire company is cons. If you are a driver they will run you into the ground until you either quit or fall asleep driving. I worked 6 days a week of solo overnight runs and team driving so I would come home for a few hours then finish my 10 hours off in the bunk of the truck while my co-driver got us to the first store, and yes you are expected to help unload every store even if you are still on your 10 hour break. The only thing this company cares about is getting a drivers butt in a seat so it looks like dispatch managers are doing a great job. It is a rule of thumb by most long term prisoners (employees) of the company that you don't bother learning a new drivers name until they have been there 6 months because 1 out of 10 drivers actually stay longer than a month. Management is a joke, they all swear they have A Cdl but they know nothing about driving, if something happens on the road that isn't your fault in any way like a car merging into you or something like that you are always suspended pending termination and then fired. The upper management is only worried about covering their butts, they "ask" for favors like covering for 1 of the 20 drivers that call in a night then will tell you your not looking at the big picture if you say no I'm too tired or some other reason. Now on the rare occasion you actually see a manager and talk to them don't ask about a decision they made which might negatively effected your job, you will be told you are being selfish and have a bad attitude. One big thing they don't tell you is all the pay freezes, every time the price of diesel goes up a penny the owners cry poverty and freeze all pay until they figure out a way to proceed. The pay freezes last from 6 months to a year and you will not receive your scheduled raise once the freeze is lifted you have to wait another year and you won't get back the raise you missed. The worst part is nothing there ever changes, every day it's the same crap just a different person making you job harder, and don't believe the pay when they offer you a job. They will show you a pay sheet and call it a new employee but really it's all made up and so inflated.

    Advice to Management

Fire from the top down and rebuild, it was a lot better place to work when the maines father was around, he actually cared about families and employees, all the maines kids care about is profit and showing off their money. If the culture changed it really could be a great place again but like every other suggestion from the workers it will fall on deaf ears.
