I have been working at Mainstreet Ventures part-time

    Pros

Employees receive a discount at the restaurants within our company. Flexible work hours, easy to trade shifts. Casual work attire and environment.

    Cons

Company will not offer full time employment. No benefit options available. No on-site parking or parking validation. Must work at least occasional weekends.

    Advice to Management

Management should offer their good employees full time employment and fill other departments open positions by promoting from within to increase employee retention. When adding new responsibilities to individual employees or departments, management should update the job description and offer compensation for the additional job duties.

    Pros

    Money is good, but inconsistent

    Cons

    - Micro Management
    - Many problems with the restaurant, but management focuses on small meaningless "problems"
    - I report to 5 different managers

    Advice to Management

Reassess the status and abilities of your management staff.

I worked at Mainstreet Ventures full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    They treat their managers well

    Cons

A lot of in house gossip due to small size of company, if you get on higher ups bad side you're pretty much toast.

I worked at Mainstreet Ventures part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a server, if you get in at a Chop House it's about as good of a gig as you can get (outside of the major cities). They train you well, and you can make great money.

    Cons

They have 21 restaurants, none of the others appear to be anything too special. There's mandatory Saturday meetings (even if you don't work that day). Also, your tips go through your paychecks.

I worked at Mainstreet Ventures part-time

    Pros

Had a great wait staff, great networking, and great hours. Tips were very good, and training was excellent.

    Cons

Management is inconsistent, plays favorites, and will do whatever is best for them and not you. Company is more worried about making money then their employees

    Advice to Management

Be consistent, and be fair. One thing is allowed for one employee and not the other based on favoritism. Value your employees, they work hard for you, you should show some gratitude.

    "Server"

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Mainstreet Ventures part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours and great location. Small staff. Easily switch shifts if needed. Parking can be bit of a hassle especially on game days.

    Cons

Management does not care about employees only profits. Servers tip out on all sales and pay for the restaurants credit card fees!! No employee meal is served and no outside food is allowed. No cash tips. You get an inaccurate pay check every two weeks so the company can receive a tax break from the IRS. Executive management is even worse than the restaurant managers. There are consistent changes with no explanation or regards for how it will affect the employees. If you want to be fairly compensated and valued for your work then this is NOT the place to for you.

    Advice to Management

Start caring and valuing your employees. Have an action plan when new significant changes are implemented.

    Cons

Like in any organization, juggling priorities can be a challenge.
