I worked at Maintenance Engineering (Less than a year)

    Pros

They will "hire" you immediately, an tell you have your own company, as they are just making you a manufactures rep, but you have to follow their schedule and their extensive rules.

    Cons

Trying to sell a product at 3 to 4 times the market price, their products have no specific patents, and can be purchased all over the internet for 1/4 the price. Does not feel good to sell products at this highly inflated price. They will give you sales cards with their company phone number, none of your peronal e-mail, company e-mail--which they do not have--or cell phone.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate what you are doing, but you really need to move ahead 25 years. Methods are very very old, and now that the internet exists, very easy to get your product. Your "industrial" product is just a product with different specs, in this era takes about 5 minutes to figure it out....segregate yourselvess to stay in the 21st century.

Commission only / No benefits - It is hard to earn enough money to keep gas in your tank and stay out there selling. Lots of competition and prices are very high for the ME products.

    Pros

You are in charge of your own success or failure. As an independent contractor you have unlimited income potential based on the work you put in. The training and support they provide is exceptional. Anything you need requires only a phone call. Their support and guidance, along with a generous commission program, gives you everything you need to succeed and make great money!

    Cons

If you are not self motivated this is not the job for you. You have to put in a lot of work up front which will pay off in the end, but make sure you are able to make a full time commitment. Also, being an independent contractor you have no benefits and must pay in when tax time comes around.
