I have been working at Maker Studios

    Pros

Lots of young talent in a fun geographical location. Flexible work schedule.

    Cons

Very rowdy, loud work environment where young males compete for dominance. It felt like a summer camp.

    Advice to Management

Less young males. More females (of all ages) and older males.

I worked at Maker Studios full-time

    Pros

Steady paycheck. Learned a lot about how business is done, basically burning piles and piles of someone else's money with no repercussion except to the employees who were laid off in swaths every year.

    Cons

The entire company seemed to be a facade for a high-priced sale. Nothing made sense. The company seemed to balk at any attempt at logical cost savings in favor of over-the-top waste. Nobody knew what anyone else was doing. Went months producing little to no content while Variety inexplicably reported on how well we were doing.

    Advice to Management

You know how to play the game. Time to sink your vampire teeth into the next esoteric new media concept that boomers can't wrap their heads around and milk it for all it's worth.

I worked at Maker Studios for more than a year

    Pros

-Made awesome lifelong friends. -Great resume starter. -Fairly flexible schedule. They weren't strict on time. Only once in a while when the CEO was trying to sell the company to Disney. -Once it was sold to Disney you got the Disney passes. -401k / Benefits

    Cons

-Every manager/director there is basically an idiot. The dumbest people I've ever seen got these HUGE inflated titles because they were hired or promoted by their besties who were even bigger idiots. Sorry not sorry. We all know it's true. -Sales team couldn't sell themselves out of a paper bag. -The content produced by Maker was pretty cringeworthy. -Poor management / organization / communication. -Company had... no real direction after it was purchased by Disney. -Overpromised things to talent just so they would sign into the network.
