Work on customer site. Great coworkers. Self actualization kind of situation! Able to acquire training.

    Cons

Non-ergonomic government cubicle environment. Huge amount of work to squeeze into 8 hour days.

    Advice to Management

Open an office in Colorado Springs!

    Pros

Big Company so plenty openings if you were to have a contract change you would be able to jump to another gig.

    Cons

Pay is not that well compared to what other companies pay.
Need to have PM better in the know of what is going on with contracts.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at ManTech full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

o Work life balances in maintained, typical 9-5 with telework opportunities
o Good company benefits with an option to sign up for extras/discounts (Tuition Reimbursement, Aflac, Legal etc)

    Cons

o Life can be very different from project to project, zero consistency depending on the government client.
o Your idea are just that...your ideas. On these government contract, you are not in charge.
o Often time the people you work for are going to be earning less than you do, and they may hold a slight resentment for you because of it.
o I have not seen an actually career progression plan. In order to go from a Systems Engineer I to a Systems Engineer II, a position must exist and you have to apply for it just like outside prospects. Often times the positions don't exist within you same project. If you're in a project you absolutely love, you are going to have to risk leaving the project.

    Advice to Management

o Provide more opportunities for employees to be more involved in community activity without needed to take personal time. ManTech can afford to give 10 hours of community service hours to each employee a year

Your job is as secure as the government contract

    Pros

    Well organized
    Good benefits
Very competitive compensation at least in my unit
    People friendly
    Promote learning and education
In comparison to other companies I know of or have friends working at I think ManTech is at the top of the pack in taking care of and valuing it's employees

    Cons

This is difficult because, like any large organization, there are bureaucratic headaches. Also, to conform with many DoD accounting policies we have some rather over-bearing expense and travel rules. But this is the norm when have DoD contracts

    Advice to Management

Do not pursue revenue blindly. i know we are publicly traded and owe things to stockholder but quality and excellence are key discriminators in services tasks. Revenue and quality should be near equals in importance.
