I worked at Management & Training Corp. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

getting to make an impact in someone's life

    Cons

There is no middle ground. You are there forever oryou are new. Certain positions keep turning over. They run it like a prison, There are those that care about the kids and those that could careless and treat them poorly. AND don't create waves. MTC has cut some many slots the employees are over worked and under paid

    Advice to Management

remember you are the middle ground between corporate and your employees. The students are human. Most come from socioeconomically deprived environments. A lot are from abusive situations.

I have been working at Management & Training Corp. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gives you needed experience in Corrections

    Cons

Taking daily verbal abuse from both inmates and staff
Inmates treat you with more respect than staff
Unstable schedule, changed without warning 3x in 12 months
Less pay, time off and benefits than State facilities
Antiquated equipment, broken locks, black mold
Quality of Inmate health care is atrocious
    Management brushes off safety concerns
Often working a post alone with 200+ inmates
    No overtime available any more!
    Ridiculously high turnover
    Sexism toward female CO’s
Exposure to fentanyl and potentially life threatening situations

    Advice to Management

Actually do your UAR’s and listen to your staff when they have a concern. Come out of your office and pay attention. Stop brushing safety concerns under the rug. Give more than 4 hours PTO a month! Don’t reward your slackers and run your good employees off with mistreatment. Treat females and males equally. Raise the pay! We aren’t inmates so don’t treat us as such! Show some respect and appreciation and you will gain some loyalty! Stop polishing the brass on the Titanic and live up to your mission statement!
