I worked at Manchester Airports Group part-time

    Pros

Annualized hours contract (21 hours per week) can suit some lifestyles and employment preferences Possibility of being taken on as a permanent team member Some flexibility in shift patterns During the busy holiday season (April through October) there is plenty of opportunity to work extra hours Friendly team of co-workers Easy hiring process Opportunities to move into other roles within the airport Pension scheme, other MAG benefits

    Cons

Non-existent safety culture. Staff are routinely asked to perform tasks which are dangerous and contrary to MAG’s own health and safety policy Annualized hours (21 hrs/wk) contract Poor compensation structure. Additional shift hours outside those rostered are paid at the same standard rate. Similar roles within MAG attract proper overtime rates Training is non-existent. Inexperienced and incompetent drivers are asked to drive vehicles outside of their experience and safe capability Massive staff turnover is indicative of low moral The huge pressure on drivers to meet quota movement targets often results in fatigue and accidents to customer vehicles. Poor staffing planning. Roster schedules are often unclear. Salaries are regularly short-paid due to deficiencies in the staff planning system. Extra hours and shift change requests are made by text messaging!

I worked at Manchester Airports Group part-time for less than a year

    Pros

None unlesss you like working with judgemental and bullying colleagues.

    Cons

Unsustainable shifts with no life and managers who just do not care. However that was not the main problem. The main problem was that a bullying culture is rife throughout Manchester Airport. Bullying from Management and you own Colleagues. There is no respect at all and colleagues swear and use foul language as a norm in the break rooms. If you do not believe me go an work there, you have my sympathy. I personally hate bullying, MAG must know this is happening but turn a blind eye to it, hence a high turnover of staff. If you really are intent on working there keep your head down, you mouth firmly shut and do not trust anyone.

I worked at Manchester Airports Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice working environment - friendly colleagues, and fairly relaxed

    Cons

More senior finance management are not the best- typical of a former public sector type organisation. They are all happy to be well-rewarded but generally not high calibre, and keen on protecting each other rather than seek higher performance.
