I have been working at Manchester School District full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I liked the school I'm in and the people.

    Cons

Not a lot of follow thru when changes a set to be made

    Advice to Management

    Give things time to work

I have been working at Manchester School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many teachers really care and want to do their absolute best for their schools and their students. Manchester teachers are often underrated - they consistently do so much for so little and are so under appreciated and disrespected.

    Cons

So much - poor funding, disrespected staff, conflict of interest with the Mayor as the head of the BOSC, students are poorly behaved yet not held accountable, general public has no understanding of what school employees deal with... the list goes on.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. If they are happy, validated, and supported, Manchester schools will turn out happier, more educated, adaptable, and prepared students.

I worked at Manchester School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The teachers really do care about the students in the school. It's nice to be around caring when you're working in a low socioeconomic school district.

    Cons

The school board is an absolute joke. It's run by mayor, who is also an absolute joke.

I worked at Manchester School District full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Truly, nothing. The pay is insulting, no salary boost for high qualification, certification, or years of experience. Half of the teachers truly care, did and burned out, or are there due to politics, convenience, and doing nothing but making it hard for others to work.

    Cons

Everything. Money, people, politics, upper leadership, student discipline, lack of professionalism. Its a district wide issue. The mayor, the school board, all of them are in it with little to no relevant education experience, making all the decisions that affect the kids- selfishly.

    Advice to Management

Management doesn't care enough to read this.

    Pros

Working with Manchester school district is so fulfilling and everyone in the district is very professional. Whenever I needed assistance I was treated with the up most respect.

    Cons

The only downsides to working with Manchester school district I would have to say is I would have liked to be working every single day rather than, sometimes only four days a week.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the management at Manchester school district would have to be keeping up the great work with communicating with their employees and giving everyone the same respect that everyone deserves.

    Pros

The salary is good. The school I have worked at are good. Most teachers have been there a long time.

    Cons

They lay a lot of people of in the spring because they do not know their budget until June. The teachers contract says that teachers have to know in April or May if their contracts are going to be renewed. They have to call people back after the budget is approved and that is usually late in the season.

I have been working at Manchester School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent teaching staff, at most schools, that care about their students. Teachers must be certified and meet state Highly Qualified Teacher status.

    Cons

The Mayor of Manchester and the School Board do not have backgrounds in education. They try to run the district like a business with no concern about the staff or students. Subsequently, the schools are underfunded. They lack current texts and supplies. Salary increases and health benefits are falling by the wayside. moral of the staff is at an all-time low. The Mayor, School Board, and Aldermen care only about their political futures and they cater the slum lords and business owners only.

    Advice to Management

One of the best ways to increase your tax base is to insure a good school system by working with the schools, NOT against them. Everyone is tired of the lip service. Time to respect the students and staff of the Manchester School District!
