I have been working at Mancini Duffy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The firm culture as amazing, the people are great, and the projects are wide ranging and mostly interesting. If you're good at your job and you want to advance and be part of the firm's decision making process there are plenty of ways to get involved past just working on projects.

    Cons

There is a lack of people with 5-10 years of experience. There's a great young group and a great group of principles and senior leadership, but the gap creates a situation where there's not enough advisors to go around. This means senior staff is relying heavily on young staff to excel beyond their experience level.

    Advice to Management

The culture at the firm seems geared at young talent, which is great, but there's not a lot in place to attract and retain mid-level experienced employees.

I have been working at Mancini Duffy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Young, creative, dynamic work environment. The company has LEED earning incentives and frequent CE classes and luncheons for free. Company has typical social functions year round. Great ambience to grow in your career socially and design knowlegde.

    Cons

Competitive, extranueous, and stressful environment to work for designers, project managers, and principals. Raises and bonus are not easily obtained and lack of career advancement. Basically if you are hired as a drafter, project manager, etc and you work for the company for years any higher position openings are not offered or given to current employees. They prefer to hire outsiders to promote for company. Big down side is the company is run by CFO who is an accountant. Design/architecture firm should not be run by numbers' person, bad business model.

    Advice to Management

Position responsibilities should not be so narrow. Company would work better if collaborative teams were created, where individual has designated tasks but can help other teammates when other members are overloaded. Large company takes on too much work load causing long days for certain employees or groups.

    Pros

It is a good place to gain experience if you are a recent graduate. There is good work life balance for people in senior positions. The general office morale is usually very good. This helps to help groups work together as a team. Team work is very important there. There is always someone who is available to pitch in when help is needed. Most people have a can do attitude.
There are two review sessions per year. This is a good opportunity to discuss career opportunities and receive feedback about performance. The leadership team is available and open to discussions.

    Cons

There is not a lot flexibility in the roles that people play. Even if people express a desire to work in different capacities their request may not lead to a more diverse role.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for staff to have a well rounded experience. Communicate with employees about decisions, changes, problems.
