I worked at Manhattan Apartments as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of listings, large database (mostly open listings). Manhattan Apartments was a good choice at first, when you're starting out and don't really know better.

    Cons

Training could use a lot of improvement. It seems to have been put together years ago, in haste. Better listings and timely updates (as well as channeling experienced agents' competitiveness) could help an agent get off the ground.

    Advice to Management

Train experienced agents to welcome new colleagues, get better listings, revamp training for all.

I worked at Manhattan Apartments full-time

    Pros

There were some good people working at Manhattan Apartments. There were some really good teams and people in management positions. They take you in and actually try to help you learn the business.

    Cons

There were some terribly unprofessional agents working at MAI who liked to take advantage of new inexperienced agents. Many times agents didn't properly screen clients and that led to many days of showing clients around the city who either weren't qualified for an apartment or weren't actually ready to rent.

    Advice to Management

Have a more standardized approach to screening clients and don't put apartments in the database if there are not any pictures.

I worked at Manhattan Apartments full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There was a lot of interaction between the brokers, so it was easy to get help if you are first starting out like I was. Huge number of properties also.

    Cons

100% commission that usually took a few weeks to come through after a sale

    Advice to Management

Don't keep brokers waiting for their commissions

    Advice to Management

apartments need to actually exist. and learn a thing about ethics.
