    Cons

Cons are no different here than at any company.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Manifest full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, work/life balance

    Cons

No accountability at executive level, very poor communication, top heavy with too much work pushed to the lower level staff, bullying and harassment, no clear career paths.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to your employees and take steps that prove you are listening. Work on communicating to your staff. When someone claims to be bullied or harassed, do something about it. Hold people accountable at the top who are meeting with clients and getting paid a lot for that instead of just letting go of the people that are actually making things.

    I worked at Manifest full-time

    Pros

The pay/benefits and PTO here was very fair and reasonable. There are also some all-around wonderful people there who are great to work with, and they’re doing amazing stuff.

    Cons

…unfortunately, few of these people are in management positions. It’s a very top-heavy company, and while there are certainly exceptions, much of the management is extremely unpleasant to deal with and/or not the right fit for the job. Job responsibilities are often unclear and occasionally contradictory, which creates a culture based around passing blame. These factors, combined with a high turnover and a lack... of job security, create a toxic work environment that brings out a bad side in lots of people. I know that upper management is trying their hardest to make things better for everybody and move past the hurdles that have hurt the company, and in many cases continue to do so. However, they’ve got a long way to go.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that everybody's on the same page. That will help cut down on the toxic environment and bickering that is hurting this company.

I have been working at Manifest full-time

    Pros

    Decent clients and quality work.

    Cons

Agreed on the abusive work environment and NYC Group Publisher reviews. She is less than pleasant. Nothing seems to change despite numerous complaints made to HR about her. She is nasty and anything but professional. Unbelievable that anyone takes this woman seriously. Upper management is made made up of people hired to take on more senior roles then they are qualified for or deserve.

    Advice to Management

Ditch the Group Publisher. There are smarter/more talented people available in the industry with better temperaments who conduct themselves in a professional manner. Start to hire leaders who actually lead.

I have been working at Manifest full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Many of the coworkers are extremely talented, but those that are truly talented tend to find greener pastures pretty quickly.

    Cons

Despite a lot of talk and probably a bit of effort from management about improving culture, the truth is that management enables a pretty abusive work environment. Expectations are never set and when employees inevitably fail to meet invisible or impossible expectations managers refuse to take responsibility. There is truly no transparency throughout the company, possibly because upper management doesn't really want... to know what's going on and has no clue how to improve the company. 50+ hour work weeks are the expectation but they are rarely, if ever, rewarded with raises or bonuses. Employees are routinely blamed for the company's poor performance or loss of business despite a revolving door of upper management usually being at fault. The work and environment are a daily struggle and the company absolutely takes advantage of any hardworking people that come through.

    Advice to Management

Set clear goals, take the time to get to know staff and take responsibility for failings instead of blaming and berating staff.

I have been working at Manifest full-time

    Pros

    Great coworkers and nice culture.

    Cons

There is absolutely no transparency whatsoever. It's all empty promises. Some departments have a high degree of ambiguity in their roles and what their job expectations are. There is no trust in the employees which is most likely why there's a revolving door here. There is also a lack of job security amongst the employees.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to set expectations and allow employees autonomy to do their jobs. They also need to deliver on their empty promises and not beat around the bush.

I worked at Manifest full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people. Nice studios. Work/Life balance. PTO. Benefits

    Cons

How many leadership positions have the executive team hired and subsequently fired within a year or less? They preach transparency, but it's all empty promises. There is growth potential at Manifest. HR makes you fill out your own job titles. No bonuses and raises are few and far between. Studio parties have been cancelled and budgets have been cut. Salary increases aren't communicated clearly or delivered on time.... Constant lay-offs. Pay isn't competitive. Once Wicks smells blood in the water, they'll sell and everyone will be gone.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right people, not flashy names with cool titles. Increases biz dev people isn't a strategy either, haven't you learned that already. Don't preach transparency and pretend like business prospects are good and then fire a batch of people two weeks later. Management is a group of people cobbled together that don't have a vision.

I have been working at Manifest full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I've had the good fortune of joining Manifest at the right time. It's clear this is an agency on the rise . . . culturally and strategically. In less than a year, I've witnessed an influx of strong talent and countless investments in technology, resources and culture-building, that is starting to take effect now. And very exciting for me is the quality work happening for clients. Not only are we winning new... clients and more projects, but I'm proud of our client results and sound work. This agency is built for the future of marketing.
