I worked at Manitowoc Co. full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Aside from the employees who work to maintain relationships outside the work environment, the management work to maintain staff through fluctuations in sales.

    Cons

The only con I can think of are the hierarchy loopholes you have to go through to get anything completed, but that is expected with any corporation.

    Advice to Management

None I can think of, great leaders there.

I worked at Manitowoc Co. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a good company. It has a small company feel for such a large organization. Very good people in Wisconsin.

    Cons

The spin off of Food Service (now Welbilt) was a stressful time and resulted in significant changes at the Manitowoc head office. Some good, some not so good.

    Advice to Management

Hang in there. Stick to the plan. The product is excellent. Focus on the key, quality products.

I worked at Manitowoc Co. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, collaborative atmosphere, high quality products, respected brands.

    Cons

Weak management. Too many new executives who are friends of the CEO but don't understand the Cranes business. Strategy is to shrink the company to success; not very inspiring. Too many capable committed employees have been laid off due to leadership missteps. I would discourage people from joining this company.

    Advice to Management

Develop a clear vision of an attractive future beyond rightsizing. Quit blaming outside conditions and look internally for the source of your problems.

I worked at Manitowoc Co. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for. The IT department was very effective and strategic! Very strong leadership with a global vision. IT leadership took input from it's employees and was good about communicating the strategy and roadmap to the team. IT was able to add strong value to the business and was recognized as a valuable partner! There were always opportunities to prove ones self and to learn newer technologies.

    Cons

The business leadership has changed it's strategy/vision on more then one occasion.

    Advice to Management

Stick with a strategy and give it a chance to take hold.

I worked at Manitowoc Co. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally the people I worked with were great. The pay was competitive and good benefits. There was room to move up and mostly a positive environment.

    Cons

Off site management. I feel this doesn't allow for open communication and good moral. Difficult to make informed decisions 1000 miles away.
