I have been working at Manna Project International part-time for more than a year

    Pros

MPI develops young leaders by helping connect communities through their program director roles, but also builds up leaders within its staff and board. Because MPI is a small organization, its impacts are able to be seen by all members of the organization, and all of those involved take to heart the mission at hand. With its history, MPI has operated in a relatively low risk environment, but has been able to continue...

    Cons

The board fundraising commitment does limit the diversity of perspectives to those who feel they can meet the board fundraising commitment.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward, you do great work and have strong impacts where we work!

    Cons

Moderate size limits career growth opportunities. Most of team likes working remotely, but it's not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

    Former Employee - Program Director

I worked at Manna Project International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I spent a year volunteering as a Program Director between undergraduate and law school, and it was a great experience. In the position, you are given responsibility over programs in the community that Manna operates. It's an experience that provides opportunities to improve skills relatable to careers in the states while also performing meaningful work in communities that need it.

    Cons

As with all charitable organizations, there will be frustrations over a lack of resources and means to accomplish what you may like to. Manna, however, does its best to provide you with the tools you need to do well.

      Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Manna Project International

      Pros

Incredible experience with a well-rounded organization that is holistic, and not only focused on one or two aspects of development.

      Cons

Going in somewhat blind to a work environment that can be quite challenging

      Advice to Management

Better preparation for incoming Program Directors, so their concerns can be voiced in an appropriate and timely manner

I worked at Manna Project International full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great opportunities for personal development - the chance to live in Latin America, learn Spanish, develop lasting friendships. For the right person, Manna can provide space for a wonderful year living abroad.

      Cons

While many foreign staff/volunteers have great experiences, it's questionable whether Manna actually has any positive impact on the Latin American communities where it works. Some programs are not well-designed or well-managed, especially with the constant turnover of volunteers. Management is not very open to feedback.

I worked at Manna Project International full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Writing this as a parent and experienced foreign service officer. I think their heart is in the right place.

      Cons

Total chaos in management. Petty individuals at all levels. More of a "fun year" than purpose oriented for volunteers.

      Advice to Management

It would not matter. They would not listen.
