Employees are treated well and equally. The Executive team are 'normal' people who talk to you. The company try to keep employees informed, with a super friendly culture. Colleagues are very supportive, with great knowledge and experience, not just in EMEA, but throughout the organisation - from my colleagues at HQ in Santa Clara, to those I have met during our Sales Kick-Offs in the U.S. Working in sales / marketing, the product is fundamental to my pride at work and career prospects within an organisation. Since joining MapR I have met multiple clients from a variety of industries and the all have been extremely happy with the product and service delivered. My job allows me to be part of an exciting hyper-growth journey at MapR - it is a great time to be at MapR!

Cons

When a company is growing there will be growing pains and certain challenges. But that also makes MapR and exciting place to work and keeps my job interesting. Each day brings new challenges, but if you are prepared to work hard, then the satisfaction of genuinely contributing to the success of a business outweighs any negatives.

Pros

I had a great run at MapR and was part of an amazing team. One of the best things about this company is that the product (software platform) is of very high quality so you are really helping customers deploy something good, not just peddling the latest garbage somebody threw together. It's fair to say the platform is somewhat underappreciated by the market. That leaves lots of headroom as they start to cut through the noise of competitors and their customers deploy the platform in more places. I also liked that there was very little drama or toxic politics. Everyone's friendly and focused on making the product successful, which it is destined to be as it heads toward IPO. Just guessing, some of the recent reviews here seem to be planted by competitors.

I wish they would spend more on Marketing.

Smart people work here; real product differentiators over competition; great retention rate and expansion rate of existing customers

Marketing/messaging is too technical and not integrated enough into sales process (although this is improving); hired a lot of reps with application sales background (not infrastructure) under last CEO and they seem to struggle but this is also being corrected.

Great product and managers at certain levels. Disruptive product adopted by leading companies.

Erractic hiring procedures in certain regions that involves nepotism. Low than expexted sales professions who gets promoted for not achieving goals. Nepotism occuring frequently and allowed to exist, driving higher achievers to leave. Some work 110% whilst other are hired to travel to events, have coffee catchups and play the blame games. Titles do not match responsibility. Hiring too many old school ex EMC who thinks selling software is the same as selling legacy hardware.

Fantastic product, good team, and a wide opportunity for the files system and storage.
