    Pros

great people in my particular team, not so in other departments where that is hit and miss. People can be very competitive and condescending.

    Cons

Cooperation between departments limited, everyone out for themselves. There is a "it's not my job" mentality on some teams instead of everyone pitching in. Too many processes to allow anyone to be agile.

I worked at Maple Leaf Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good salary, benefits and perks. Nice work offices, flexibility to work remotely.

    Cons

Culture of back-stabbing encouraged at all levels. Very cut-throat approach get whatever you want rather than working together for the greater good (ie the benefit of the company) The mantra: every man for himself !

    Advice to Management

Review the company policies on ranking people - it is an exercise in selling your staff rather than developing and rewarding appropriately.

    Pros

The Frontline workers and Supervisors is what made the job worth doing. They showed that they genuinely cared about the people who worked under them.

    Cons

Language barriers caused challenges when it came to training, coaching and mentoring of employees. The work environment at times is stressful depending on the market price and production demands

    Advice to Management

Listen to the very people who work for you.

    Pros

The best thing were the team members, they support you no matter what time it is.

    Cons

Working in -4C was hard, what they provide isn't enough for you. They always want you to stay back if something goes wrong. Most of the times you will be working 11hours a day. They should consider paying more if they want you to stay for 11hours a day.

    Advice to Management

Try to see how much your employees work and pay accordingly and you will see the difference

The job is not so stressful. Safety is always first.

    Advice to Management

Monitor the attitude of your supervisors in your facilities. Give the small workers their right to speak by giving them the chance to rate the performance of supervisors so that these people won't try to abuse them but instead treat them right to avoid workplace politic due to racism and favoritism.
