      Great company only getting better!

      Pros

I've been with the company eight years and it's gotten better and better year after year. I started as a college new hire, 22 y/o and was quickly recognized by my management that I was a "high potential individual". With my contributions to MRO, since my starting salary offer, my total pay has over doubled in less than 8 years. The work is interesting, challenging and lots of paid time off, 9/80 flex schedule and recent new executive management trying to enhance communication things are only going to continue getting better.

      Cons

Burecrocy is still apparent even with some of the changes executives try to put in place, there are still older upper managment that have a very old school attitude about work and have unrealistic expectations about deadlines and quick turn around requests - these are far and few between but still exist.

No Longer A Good Place To Work

      Pros

They pay well and have a 9/80 work schedule

      Cons

The company keeps shrinking in size and so does the staff. They keep laying off the workers but the over sized middle managment is still intact. You have Directors that have 2 people reporting to them. The company has completly lost its safety focus and it's reflected in a safety record that would have not been tolerated 10 years ago. Diversity is a complete joke.

      Good Company, Good People

      Pros

Great work/life balance! 9/80's and will allow you to move those days around within the month, which is really great and I dont think any O&G company does that in Houston or anywhere else. Or you can choose half-day Fridays

      Cons

I think the pay could be better, just seems like it's below market.

      Pros

Salary better than other company for position (not competitors though) 9/80 Flex schedule

      Cons

Does not honor or follow its "values" Forces competition with peers in order to keep job, therefore ruining "collaboration" effort Performance ratings based on competition among others with similar job titles, often times across multiple departments Representing managers of your review are done by managers who don't know what you do or who you are Multiple layoffs combined with peer competition created fear of job loss Layoffs left remaining employees doing work of multiple employees with no extra pay or bonus Merits based on favoritism not performance

      Pros

      9/80 schedule, 4 weeks vacation

      Cons

Absolutely everything is at your manager's discretion (more like whim), non-existing HR, elitist and unapproachable senior management, old-school methods and ways

Stay Away From This Train Wreck

      Pros

      9/80 schedule. That is all.

      Cons

Poor leadership; don't be candid about problems and suggest solutions; many top level techs kept their mouths shut, found better jobs, then quit; other "not in the club" techs got laid-off and found better positions; the brown nosers are still there sucking up and showing their "value" as yes men; stay away from this toxic dump.

Once A Great Company - Now Major Identity Crisis

Jul 31, 2016 - Senior Financial Analyst in Houston, TX

      Business Outlook

      Pros

9-80 Flex Schedule (2 days/month off) on top of vacation days Compensation is good compared to other industries Mostly flexible with leaving early or coming in late (but have been called out for taking days off I had scheduled months in advance) Smart coworkers

      Cons

Top Talent is leaving by the day, only a few superb upper manager left Executives are pompous, overly compensated and average intelligence at best - the problem is our CEO didn't pick the CFO so the CFO thinks he reports to Board and not the CEO Management say we want to save costs, yet build a $1.5MM meeting/hangout floor that is a google wanna be. Recently found out they upgraded an existing floor to "make it look like another floor" employees where coming from Unwilling to be flexible when it comes to operations, not risk taking and will not adopt most optimal well completion designs Middle management is poor, very much yes-men I can never seem to use all the time off given, work load is getting more and more and work-life balance is getting worse Very rigid policies and personnel make it impossible to be nimble Pay for E&P is average at best, low salary, average bonus and stock options Benefits (medical) is getting absurdly expensive, last year it increased over 40%! Had roughly 35% laid off in last 18 months and not sure if there are more to come or not Development and training is non existent
