Good growth opportunities in unconventionals and open to young employees.

    Pros

Possible to have some of the best work / life balance in the industry. : 9/80 flex days, lots of vacation. Also possible to overwork, and give back vacation, depending on the project you have. Good projects in Bakken, Eagleford. Lots of room to grow for young employees as the older ones are retiring. Friendly, "family" culture with lots of long time employees.

    Cons

Still too Bureaucratic for an independent. Company is working at becoming more efficient. Budget is Focused on Bakken and Eagleford - sensitive to oil price drops in the future. Needs to keep portfolio broad.

    Pros

Great people; have had a lot of turnover though so I am not sure of current management. The corporate office has 9/80 scheduling and a nice gym. I had plenty of projects to keep me busy.

    Cons

Oil prices have had an impact on the industry; IT was slow to adapt new technology but started to change that at the end of my tenure.

    Good people, poor job security

    Pros

Almost everyone I work with is professional, hardworking, friendly, and helpful. The pay is competitive and the work is interesting.

    Cons

With oil prices plummeting and no end in sight, everyone feels expendable. There have already been quite a few surprising layoffs in my department.

    Management burning bridges

    Pros

Great work/life balance, fairly low stress environment, great benefits, competitive pay

    Cons

C-suite management is killing this company. I get that the oil price environment is harsh right now and they are trying to best position the company to survive this downturn, but they are going about it in a way that is completely opaque and morale destroying. Employees are like zombies walking the halls these days just waiting for the axe to drop on the next round of layoffs. No attempt is made to promote any kind of company culture, and backstabbing in the name of rankings is unofficially encouraged.

    Accountant - Company in transition

    Pros

Work life balance, and constant accounting projects changing your daily routines. Accounting lost about 25% of the workforce in the recent layoffs (Feb 2015).

    Cons

Very limited international opportunity, executive management doesnt seem to have a plan for the future to counteract the low oil prices. Lots of buzz words used, but have no real meaning to anything.

    Struggling a bit

    Pros

Very good benefits. Retirement plan is very favorable. Pockets of very decent people who conduct themselves honorably and with professionalism.

    Cons

Rapidly falling share price and significant drop in oil prices have brought many challenges. The environment is difficult on employees as good people try to help the business survive during stressful times. Share price seems to fall more than the share price of competitors and the never seems to bounce back as much.
