I have been working at Marathon Petroleum full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Takes care of families. Good corporate system.

    Cons

Canton site has terrible work life balance. Chronically underinvested and understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking at Solomon numbers, visit the site and determine what's needed.

I worked at Marathon Petroleum full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Pay. That was about it

    Cons

    Competing daily for your job.
Once Management decided they didn't like you, you were guaranteed to be gone.
    Micromanaged all the time.
Actually threatened with physical violence and HR managed to victim blame and basically say I was a hysterical, over-exaggerating, drama starting woman.
No home life--worked three months straight without a day off.
Your coworkers will stab you in the back the first chance that they get--no one is your friend there.
Fire you under false allegations so you can't come back and sue them. My firing was a direct retaliation from the physical violence investigation.

    Advice to Management

Grow a spine and actually DO something about the problems brought up to you, don't get rid of the whistleblower because it's the easiest route.

I have been working at Marathon Petroleum as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Compensation and Benefits
Emphasis on movement throughout different roles in the company
    Culture of Safety in refineries
    Locations all around America

    Cons

    Poor work-life balance
Most people that I worked with did not enjoy their jobs
    Overly aggressive HR department
Movement required to proceed up ladder

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees to reduce load on each employee. It was discouraging as an intern hearing so many tell me that they hated how much the company required of them.
