I worked at Marathon Petroleum (Less than a year)

    Pros

I think it is good how they take safety so seriously to prevent accidents and also keep their employees healthy and safe. It is a big campus. Marathon has 2 refineries in Texas City. One which used to be owned by BP. This is the largest refinery there. The goal now is to get these two refineries in sync, since BP had their own processes, applications, networks, etc.

    Cons

Lack of communication, especially regarding expectations from you as an employee.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Marathon Petroleum full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. Vacation, sick time and health insurance are all decent. They even match 401k up to 7 percent.

    Cons

I feel as though safety is not a priority. Production and cost cutting is the major concern for this company.

    Advice to Management

Moral goes a long way. You can poke and poke at employees all you want but if you are nice to them they will want to do a good job for you.

    Pros

Decent Benefits, Great co-workers, Midwest location

    Cons

Not close to very large cities, bureaucratic & political, not very flexible on work/life balance issues

    Advice to Management

The allowance of flex time would be attractive to many new prospective employees.

    Pros

People are all very friendly, helpful and competent.
    Management is accessible and responsive.
    Culture of safety and responsibility.
    Largely autonomous workforce.
Dedication to long-term sustainability fiscally, fiscally and environmentally.
    Pay is competitive.
Internships are designed for a comprehensive experience with the intent to hire full-time.

    Cons

Findlay, Ohio is a very vanilla, small-town, rust-belt USA kinda place. Not a lot going on there. Think Butte, Montana without the histoy, culture or geography.
