    Acquisition Transition and Pandemic

    Dec 2, 2022 - Director
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The corporate organization had a clear vision of what it wanted from business units.

    Cons

Business units were acquired and not clearly following what corporate had laid out. Resources were scarce, unavailable, or unknown. Managment would not follow corporate guidelines, creating issues in workflow processes. Layoffs occurred shortly after the acquisition. Very little feedback provided upon exit.

    Avoid like the plague

Sep 21, 2022 - Integrity Engineer in Denver, CO
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Denver is nice. Findlay is not. Decent pay if you new to the industry. Lots of overtime if your hourly. Little to no annoyance of communication from leadership. Heck they dont even want to hear from you. Youll never want to mix work with your personal life because of the morale so youre personal life will be completely seperate! Best way to have fun is to have past relationships with leadership! Then youll be protected and happy! If your a woman and or person of color theyll hire you even if your not qualified! its literally in the bonus metrics ask an employee if they have an example for you.

    Cons

Pay lower than industry average. Management protects toxic supervisors and directors HR protects toxic management, supervisors, and directors Leadership cares about profits over employees. Group has been halved by terrible environment. Everyone got better pay for leaving. What is the motivation to work here? MPC the new Oil and gas / Integrity bootcamp. Do your time, be put through hell, and get out! HR does surveys and cherry picks the one positive thing to report LOL. They employees all talk enough to know the general attitude and if the results are true. That then even lowers the morale further. Please reach out to a handful of employees before taking the position. I cant stress enough how no one is happy working here besides the lifers in the headquarters and management making 200k+ a year while the rest of us struggle with workload and environment.

    Pretty solid, but changing

    Nov 13, 2022 - Class A Truck Driver
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Home daily/nightly. Pretty good pay. at the time 27 dollars an hour with some premiums for delivery efficiency , but this model was changing around when I left the company. Solid health care, with extra benefits such as animal health care, new car coupons, just all together benefits across the board for all the employees. Option to work 4 days a week, but this was changing as I left. Local routes with possibility of volunteering for emergency OTR across the country. Fairly new equiment. No truck or trailer older then 4 to 5 years, and always receiving new equipment. NO ISSUE with getting things fixed ever. If the tires bad its changed. if the lines leaking fix it now. Dispatchers are young and not the most experienced, but normally very respectful when given respect and if you cant make the run they don't push as they shouldn't.

    Cons

As I was leaving the company a lot of things where changing. Pay scales where being experimented on, time expected to work was shifting from 4 days a week with an occasional extra day requested but not mandated to 5 days mandatory with expected 6th day at times. Go to the interview and ask because I have no idea what's happened recently. Truck layouts and decisions are made without trucker input. New trucks show up with odd shift patterns. 140,000 lbs loads being hauled by a 10 speed was the greatest crime, but it was an old truck on its way out and the last manual on the lot. Switched to automatic 18 speeds that we altered shift patterns on eventually and made a world of difference. Could be better now, who knows. Management is management. I found them to not be bad at all, but others didn't like the rules to much. Heavy on rules, you follow them your fine. you break them good bye. Cameras in the truck that activate when you hit a hard bump or have any kind of hard knock. I found them to be a comfort and actually saved me when someone hit my rig, But I know some drivers can't stand them.

    Room for improvement

Sep 26, 2022 -  in El Paso, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Pay is good Benefits are good Lots of opportunities for overtime

    Cons

Oftentimes problems are addressed in a way to minimize paperwork by changing alarm points to create an illusion of improvement. Examples of these would be on personal monitors designed to detect H2S concentrations within the breathing area of employees and contractors. Alarm point used to alert users at 10 ppm, allowing more time to respond. Marathon raised the alarm to 20 ppm, and proceeded to brag about decreases in exposures. Projects are not planned and executed properly, leading to extensions and/or delays in future projects. Maintenance has an increasing backlog, but marathon insists on keeping minimal staffing rather than increasing maintenance personnel to support operations department. Management does not listen to operators with years of experience with how the plants actually run, and prefer to listen to brand new engineers. Reliability takes a hit because of this Work life balance is non existent because of insane amounts of overtime due to staffing reduction strategies eliminating positions and increasing workload on everyone else.
