    Pros

Intelligent, nice and hard working staff, flexible schedule, rewarding work, new management is transparent, employees seems to really care about the mission

    Cons

Database system is slow, offices are outdated, lay-off's as new management has taken over, miscommunication between corporate and local offices, low pay, too many computer passwords (a different pw for each program you launch), some concepts are not fully thought through

    Advice to Management

Keep being transparent about the changes

I worked at March of Dimes part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility to work from home and flexible hours. Staff is really nice. Conveniently located near parkways.
Management is great at communicating with the staff

    Cons

Low salary. Cafeteria is very small and does not a lot of variety. Offices are old and outdated. Computer system often goes down and the main database is really slow.

I worked at March of Dimes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work/Family balance is great. If you have the initiative you can advance but they dont look inside for people to advance.

    Cons

Training of new employees is awful. Under performers are not let go but instead promoted. Then these under performers train new staff. This makes no sense.

    Advice to Management

Tough love will help create the best team. Also making salaries competitive. Dont take advantage of your haed workers. Commend those better

    Pros

Great organization culture. Employees are very engaged and passionate about the mission of the foundation to prevent infant mortality, premature births and birth defects.

    Cons

Benefit package needed improvement. Limited selections and fairly meager maternity leave coverage. Needs some new and younger blood in upper management as well.

    Advice to Management

    Hire innovative staff.

    Advice to Management

I worked at March of Dimes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Dedicated, hard working coworkers and volunteers with a passion for the mission. An important cause. Organization with an impressive history and record of achievements since being founded by President Roosevelt over 75 years ago.

    Cons

Organization is having financial hardships, has laid off staff several times in the past 15 years. Remaining employees are working hard but feel they don't get enough information or support from management.

    Advice to Management

Admit that recent changes in the organization have affected morale and make a real effort to improve it. Don't just expect everyone to work harder, give them information, guidance and support.

    Pros

Flexibility, room for growth, entertaining events, broad scope of responsibilities working with great families and teams and very valuable experiences.

    Cons

Not your typical M-F 9-5 job. Demanding hours and events, a heavy work load, not always the best support or structure.

    Advice to Management

Work on top-down management so that the lowest level of employees feel supported and informed.

I have been working at March of Dimes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The general work environment is flexible and friendly. They offer great PTO time benefits. They also have a wonderful mission and it's great working with the volunteers and mission families.

    Cons

The annual raises are small, and promotions are almost non-existent. There is no matching of retirement funds, and the medical plan is dismal. Team moral is very low at this time due to a major restructuring within the Foundation.

I have been working at March of Dimes (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits and flexible schedule.

    Cons

Some upper management lack experience – alot of folks are sort of "grandfathered" into higher positions. The company is going through a major re-org which will no doubt take a year or two to become steady.

    Advice to Management

    Be more flexible and open.

I worked at March of Dimes part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love the flexible schedule. Some amazing and dedicated co-workers and incredible families.

    Cons

Pressure to hit financial goals overwhelm the mission of the organization and burn out employees. Pay is not great - unless you happen to be in the upper echelons.

    Advice to Management

Stop saying you value your employees and start acting like it.
