I have been working at March of Dimes part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is great that they are here to help those who have lost a child. It is also great that they are able to help those families with children born prematurely.

    Cons

Should have more options to choose from with low prices

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

"I was surprised at the unprofessional, juvenile, negative practices of regional management."

    Pros

I loved taking potential donors on NICU tours and knowing families who have, or have lost babies. Many remain friends.

    Cons

Pervasive negative environment and lazy state director who was not monitored and misrepresented productive staff.

    Advice to Management

Watch your own training videos and practice positive principles taught; like celebrating EVERY victory, small, med and large. Learn best motivational/recruiting/sales practices- TED Talk, perhaps. Respect team, show humility. Highest management, please, mentor or replace regional level directors with constant turnover. They need to be accountable problem solvers and stop blaming those they neglect and intimidate. Honestly, I was stunned by the negativity and being labeled a troublemaker when going through proper channels to express concerns.

    Pros

You get a lot of experience in a nonprofit. MoD's offices are very small and allow to gain one-on-one experience with higher up positions.

    Cons

The only thing I can recommend is do not work for a non profit unless you are completely infatuated with organization. The best results come from people who are passionate and dedicated.

    Advice to Management

To be able to be considered for "Community Director", one must have at least 3 years of sales experience.

    Pros

Mission is great and have many dedicated supporters.

    Cons

Way too much micromanagement. Very top heavy and disproportionate staffing levels for local divisional expectations.

    Advice to Management

It's time to make major changes in senior management. They are out of touch with the local offices. Way too much oversight and internal focus (i,e, conference calls, meetings) Hire smart people and let them do their job, not force them to follow your antiquated way of doing everything.
