I worked at Marchesa (More than a year)

    Pros

    Amazing people
So much to learn if you take the initiative
Hands on learning when it coming to designing and constructing couture gowns

    Cons

    Staff is overworked.
Designers are not paid overtime and expected to work long days and most weekends. Sometimes we went two month without a single day off.
    Expect to work most holidays.
The entire place is very dirty.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your work environment. Take a look at how hard your staff works for this brand and reward them as such. They deserve way more than the little bits you give them. They make the magic happen while you give them pennies.

    I worked at Marchesa full-time

    Pros

    Beautiful product.... that’s about it.

    Cons

Company disorganization, they barely provide office supplies to their employees.
They still run as if they were a start up company which is very disappointing.

lack of upper management, No office room.

Several employees have nasty attitudes....only few friendly staff. I would be very careful in this environment.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees have to say, there’s a lot behind closed doors that happens or is spoken about and no one does or says anything.

I worked at Marchesa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team is very friendly and young. Late nights are fun.

    Cons

There is no work-life balance. The company owes every single one of their vendors and materials always come in late, a week or two before line opening, and the whole team is expected to work overnight to finish the collection.
Once they made work the atelier team (sewers, cutters and pattern makers) 36 hours straight before a show. 6 months later, they still hadn´t paid their overtime fees.

    Advice to Management

    Better money management, More ethical.

    Pros

You're able to work on developing the collection by making samples. You'll get to work on the actual garments for the collections.

    Cons

Legally, they take advantage of the interns by working them long hours and even having them come in on the weekends prior to show because they dont have enough hired help.

I worked at Marchesa full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The talented and hardworking employees.

    Cons

Management, particularly the CEO, has no idea what they (he) are doing. The company is lucky the Weinstein company is basically keeping the company afloat. They do not have any money to pay their vendors and luckily there was no issue with paychecks. It is true (from previous reviews) the word around the industry the company is going under - and fast. There is no standard for the way they do things, the CEO is very unprofessional and you never knew what kind of mood he would be in until he would be storming around the office just yelling at people. He grabs things out of your hand and there have been people from other companies who refuse to work with him. Not one person in the company likes him and for obvious reasons. They need HR to help them get a better hiring system in place and on-boarding system to go through training with new hires. Also, they have lied to new employees coming in to interview and when starting the job - nothing they told them was true. This is the worst job I have ever had and the experience was degrading and I advise never to work here - unless new CEO is hired.

    Advice to Management

Find a new CEO to help bring this company where is should and not just the founders brother who has no experience running a company. You have great and talented employees but if you want to have employees stay there for longer than a year you need a different system.

    I worked at Marchesa full-time

    Pros

The collection and bridal are stunning. Wholesale account buyers were wonderful to work with as well.

    Cons

Marchesa has absolutely no money. I did the job of 4 people and was told I needed to work weekends with no comp days given. How am I supposed to work 6 days a week. Design worked 3 months in a row without any days off. The Management (if that's what you want to call them) have no idea what they are doing and support an unhealthy work environment. They constantly have their doors closed which is unproductive and intimidating. There was no money for supplies the office is filthy. The designers are not pleasant to work with and the quality of the Notte collection is embarrassing to sell. Word around the industry says this company will be out of business soon.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to run a profitable business and treat your employees in an acceptable manner.
