I worked at Marchon Eyewear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There aren't any and I'm being completely honest.

    Cons

    - All "promotions" are without a raise no matter how many new responsibilities you take on.
    - You will always be forced to take customer service calls even with 100 things on your plate.
    - Penalized for taking too long in the bathroom
    - Supervisors with high school mentalities, cliques, and knowing nothing about what you do.
    - Ridiculous call grading system
    - Unorganized phone queue with no priorities whatsoever.
    - No chance of moving to Corporate if you're a "35 hub" employee.
    - HR person changes constantly with no knowledge of your existence.
    - Your word isn't safe with anyone. If you don't want to start rumors DON'T talk.

I have been working at Marchon Eyewear full-time

    Pros

Some of the people you work with are great. Great discount and perks on eyeglasses and sunglasses.

    Cons

Benefits and Salary are poor. Management, HR are not there for the employees. Unfair placement and favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Re-training of all management should be required on how to probably interact with their peers and fellow associates.

I have been working at Marchon Eyewear full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Name Brand sunglasses & Frames at a discount for employees & Good Health, Dental, & Eye care Insurance. Not much else.

    Cons

Self absorbed company who looks out for the better interest of themselves. They seem to applaud inappropriate behaviors between employees. If you're a chronic cheater, you'll love working here. This is like a whorehouse for Men & women alike. If you are married and have a spouse that works for the company, chances are your spouse is involved with an employee. If you are married and you work for this company, respect your marriage & don't take chances. None of these people are worth risking the loss of what you have at home. While there was no involvement with this person at the time, Lesson learned & sadly it took the crazy obsession of that individual. Your family & kids are far more valuable then some crazy unimportant fling. Don't risk their lives for that non-sense.
The sad part of this whole thing is that the wrong person has to pay the consequences for the crazy obsessive behavior of an employee. The company looked out for the person in the wrong just because that person works there leaving the innocent ones at risk of more crazy obsessive behavior.

    Advice to Management

No Comment. Management doesn't care anyway.

    Pros

Incredible brand portfolio, I believe the third largest eyewear company in the world.

    Cons

Some management positions inherited, not earned. Some departments poorly run.

I worked at Marchon Eyewear full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

excellent health benefits. Company contribution to 4011K generous.

    Cons

VSP considers itself an exceptional company and excepts nothing less from it's employees.
Any variance in performance is considered Less than Performing. This is in the eye of the manager. If you are in the CLICK, you can vary in performance but still receive a performing evaluation.
VSP has invested millions of dollars in new programs for Marchon which have completely failed, yet management continues to add platforms to them in an attempt to make things work. Only to find that the issues still remain.
SAP issues and the folks assigned to work the problems are in India. Time difference is frustrating to deal with, not to mention the language issues.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people that have been with Marchon for many years. They may not agree that new is best, but that shouldn't mean that they are idiots, as it has been heard it said.
Pushing out folks with seniority is not the answer.

    Pros

    Nice People, ample parking.
one hour lunch. Pay day is every Wednesday.
Sometimes with snow days they let you go home early.

    Cons

Poor salary, dirty, no breaks, sweatshop mentality.
Incompetent management, Raises that would insult any human being. No gameroom or a place to unwind. Floor is in disrepair, broken floor tiles everywhere.
There is a tv but you can't touch that dial. Company stuck in the 20th century the early years.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to run a business before you start running one. Employees are the back-bone of any business and with-out respect you will not have full support of your team. Give raises that equal more than 20 cents!

    Pros

This is the type of company for which you will want to work. Cares for their employees. Fair compensation..... Great bonus plan. Very good benefits, particularly medical. Tremendous communication to its employees.

    Cons

It's a pay for performance environment so if you are looking to hide in the background then you should seek other employment. Like any company, there will always be people who will find something to complain about. They are usually the folks who move on.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. The company's vision is very cognizant of the changing optical environment. Recent changes in executive management have been very well received.

I have been working at Marchon Eyewear full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, nice office, for the most part great people to work with. Depending on what department you work for they can be very flexible. As long as it has nothing to do with the parent company and the decisions are internal then it is great.

    Cons

Severe lack of communication between departments. Processes get in the way of getting actual good work done. Old mentalities will make everything fail. Promotions are all but glass ceilings, will hire externally before internally. New parent company seems to have ruined the feel of this company, too corporate now. Lastly, too many people involved on decisions having nothing to do with them. Lots of gossip and drama...very high school like and immature.

    Advice to Management

Don't make it so hard for your good employees to get promotions, they end up leaving and you are stuck with the same lazy bad employees just skating by.

    - Insight into how fashion trends move into different categories
    - Friendly

    Cons

    - LOTS OF TEMPS
    - If you are hired as a temp, usually no room for growth

    Advice to Management

    - Make sure the temps know that there is probably no room for growth
