    I worked at Marcus Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly and fun co-workers . Decent salary for cook positions . Benefits are a plus and kick in after 90 days .

    Cons

    Some of the managment has problems with being professional . A couple employees really don't want to be there and it's noticeable .

    I really can't speak of any pros.

    Cons

    Strong favoritism, low pay, forced to know many cities and many different hotels, HORRIBLY outdated computer systems, incompetent and absent managers, inconsistent schedule that constantly changes with minimal notice.

    Pros

    I've met amazing people working for the company. Benefits were decent.

    Cons

    There's no room for growth. Employees are promoted internally and no one else is notified of these job postings. For the amount of work an average GSA has to do in a shift, they deserve twice the pay that is supplied to them. Employee concerns are never addressed, and if they are, they are shrugged away. Everything seems to be "Out of Budget", even though Marcus can afford to build two new complexes within the next ten years; meanwhile employees are trying to maintain professionalism with holes in the elbows of their blazers.

    Advice to Management

    Respect your employees. Listen to concerns. Acknowledge when there is a real problem.

    Cons

    Lower management salaries: servers tend to take home more money than their managers do in the busy season.

    Advice to Management

    Relax when times get stressful. Some managers can put too much on themselves.

    I have been working at Marcus Hotels full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The Marcus Corp is large enough to achieve internal growth, but small enough to still make you feel part of the family. Interaction with corporate level execs is consistent and the owned properties are run very well! Every property has it's problems and hospitality tends to have high turnover. But policies and procedures are in place to make that transition run smoothly.

    Cons

    Managed properties tend to get the back seat. Policies are not enforced and procedures go out the window. Marcus and the execs tend to bend over backward to avoid conflict with ownership. Seems like they are willing to turn the other way and let the managed properties fend for themselves when things go wrong. If Marcus isn't the owner of the hotel, don't bother working there.

    Advice to Management

    Stick up for your employees. Too many people are run into the ground by unruly guests, bag supervisors and poor ownership.

    Aggressively expanding reservations office has a lot of room to continue growing
