I worked at Mardi Gras Casino full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

10% Employee discounts, Meet new people

    Cons

Lighting is very dark, No raises, Management really don't show appreciation for employees...

    Advice to Management

Create programs for employees such as employee of the month, employee appreciation day, different activities to keep employees engaged in the work environment. Also acknowledge employees don't walk past like they're invisible.

    Pros

They provided and washed uniforms, great security, nice co-workers.

    Cons

Poor hourly wages, not enough extended training. Place was run like a high school with all the gossiping, back stabbing and managers who were not properly trained.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be aware of what is going on in their facility at all times. More extensive training for all their employees. Listen to their employees and understand their real concerns.

I worked at Mardi Gras Casino full-time

    Pros

Enjoyed my job, co-workers and patrons. I made great money and had a lot of fun!

    Cons

The management changed often but progressively got worse. Lousy benefits along with strict rules made the working environment challenging to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Value great employees. There are tons of fantastic people working there who are undervalued and under appreciated - make a change!

    Pros

Not hard to get a job here. It's a paycheck. Casino environment can be an exciting and demanding workplace.

    Cons

Management has absolutely no respect for the employees. Low morale and absenteeism run rampant. Turnover is so high that the casino has resorted to hiring employees under 21, who have to be escorted around the building because they are underage per gaming laws. This is the kind of place where people can show up to interviews in ratty blue jeans with earbuds in and easily get the job because the standards are that low. The benefits are horrible. Business is declining overall. A lot of the management is just incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with a little more respect and focus on making your work environment better - then maybe you won't go through so many employees every month. Constantly training new people costs a lot of money!
