I worked at Margolin Winer & Evens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They will basically do anything to get you in the door.

    Cons

Complete nanny state. The computers basically cannot connect to Internet outside the office and must be hardwired. The technology is ancient and the IT department is non-existent, it is one old man that struggles to even use outlook properly. You do not get a desk phone and are completely monitored via lync, they are so up your behind it is literally impossible to get any work done. Save yourself and your sanity........ do not work here if you even have one other option.

    Advice to Management

Grow up and trust your employees and come into the current technological age. You will get better production from your staff.

    Pros

    - Many nice people in the firm, but the rotten apples are ruining the culture here, have no doubt about it.
    - Not much else good to say about this place.

    Cons

    - Many of the higher level employees are miserable. You can tell from their expressions that they hate their job.
    - MWE does not have time/resources to train employees. They have no serious training.
    - Firm hires individuals for busy season and let's them go soon after.
    - Many employees stay unassigned during the year, they do not have the jobs to keep employees busy.

    Advice to Management

If you hire someone, treat them well. People are not cogs in a machine.

I have been working at Margolin Winer & Evens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a great place to start and learn. I was hired right out of college. You have to work hard like any accounting firm. I thought the performance reviews were OK and fair. They expanded from a small office to a bigger renovated one in the same building. This place is right across from Roosevelt Field Mall but you probably only get to see it more than be in it since you either out on a client or working late.

    Cons

Since you are working a lot, it is obvious that there isn't much work/life balance. This is typical of accounting firms. Being too close to Macy's (the paycheck killer or you get to see it and not go to it).

    Pros

People are quite nice. If you live in Long Island, it is good place to work.

    Cons

Management did not communicate well with lower levels. One manager was very condescending. Management does not like to accept new clients. If they want to grow, they need more revenue.
