    Positive Outlook

I worked at Marietta College (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great group of people to work with. Good training provided on the Ohio link system.

    Cons

    Nothing notable or worth mention.

    Pros

Excellent community, great colleagues. They have a strong petroleum engineering program so you get an interesting mix of students. Small class sizes.

    Cons

No union, little response from administration, general feeling that administration values dollar signs and appearance over education and substance. The town is a bit isolated. Currently downsizing.

    Advice to Management

Go big or go home. You need to increase investment, not push through austerity programs. Petroleum engineering is excellent, but it should be one of many majors.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Marietta College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work environment, great administration. Competitive salary, and also great benefits including free admission to the rec center and tuition remission.

    Cons

A lot of lay offs currently, no raises in almost six years since the financial crisis. Other than that its mostly positive

    Advice to Management

Treat the employees who make this campus a great institution better. Too often are some of the faculty and staff members overlooked.

I worked at Marietta College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Lots of attention for students
    Very experience-oriented
Feels like time-travel, if you're into that sort of thing

    Cons

    Lacking a lot of resources
Hard to be seen if you're not in a professional program
    Petroleum engineering runs the school

    Advice to Management

Find your identity - are you a technical school or a liberal arts college?

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Marietta College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, including tuition remission or yourself or family members, and access to great athletic facility. Beautiful campus, generally the faculty and staff are nice, and the work environment is pretty laid back. Very good work/life balance.

    Cons

The pay is significantly below market rate, but the benefits are great and the cost of living is low so depending on your priorities that might make up for it. The town is starved for culture, particularly good food, and is close to several highly-polluting factories. Not much opportunity for advancement.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Marietta College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small institution, good opportunity for people to get some experience. Traditional disciplines that are offered at the college. Strong petro program. Decent benefit for employees.

    Cons

Has been under poor leadership for years. No solid goals nor leadership. Doesn't feel like a community. If you don't know the right person, there is not way you will survive. Doesn't appreciate talent. No opportunity to be promoted.

    Advice to Management

    Change senior leadership.
