I worked at Mark Twain Hotel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Locally owned, independent, paid more than local minimums, longer-term employees, did not skimp on money.

    Cons

A new management company took over in 2015 and things started going downhill. Also a small company, tough to move up.

    Advice to Management

    Spend money to make money.

    Pros

During slow times you have the ability to work on other personal items. Laid back atmosphere. For the most part this is a very low stress environment.

    Cons

Can be frustrating working with staff who operate under their own procedures instead of listed mandatory procedures. Different departments don't always work well and communicate properly with each other.

    Advice to Management

Don't expect all employees to share traits of yourself if not vital to properly carrying out the job. Job can be done many different yet correct ways as long as all documented procedures are followed. For the most part it is a great environment and an easy place to work, laid back.
