    I have been working at Mark's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    employee discount is amazing: 40% on regular 20% on sale Might be just where I worked but the team environment was great Management is open to accommodating for you

    Cons

    There's not enough hours at some stores for part time staff. You might be the only person on the floor, so its hard to keep watch of the whole store.

    I worked at Mark's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    There is always something to do that keeps you busy and helps the hours go by. The employee discount is very generous

    Cons

    There is little opportunity for growth or an increase in wages.

    I worked at Mark's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Great employee discount; good onboarding and training experience with corporate;

    Cons

    Franchise stores don't participate in corporate incentive programs (customer or employee focused) or store-to-store stock transfer b/c of cost(s) to owner (e.g. - Canadian Tire/Triangle $); burden of stock merchandising, cleaning the store (including bathrooms) tasked to evening/PT employees; store ownership operated with little/no line of responsibility to or expectations from regional or corporate management;

    I have been working at Mark's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    A sophisticated retail business environment, good place for people who love retail. Many different areas to work and learn. Fast paced you won’t get bored. Good employee discount. Close to home. Nice amenities and free coffee (fancy coffee machine), nice cafeteria. Guaranteed raise by inflation. Free Lynda.com access.

    Cons

    You don’t get rich in retail. Not comparing to energy sector. Produce team needs work, lots of work needed to improve process. Company want good quality products but never allow enogh time and resources for development (resources seem to be mostly invested in marketing). Organization culture in this team is toxic and inter department relationship are not that friendly. Work place bully could happen and was let go.

    The employee discount and they hire students

    Cons

    You are just a number there and it feels like no matter how hard you work you can just be replaced.

    I worked at Mark's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Generally very flexible scheduling. Decent employee discount. Opportunity for growth in store management roles, lots of focus on promoting from within. Customers are generally very pleasant. Great option for people looking for part-time work or students.

    Cons

    If you're a full-time employee the benefits program is mandatory. Little to no chance of advancement or full-time positions in smaller stores. Expected to work way beyond the full-time 37.5 hours with no pay or overtime so work/life balance can be non-existent especially during the busy part of the year and some managers will be very petty with you if you leave when your shift ends. There's no actual training process for new managers so your success can be dependent on how you're trained, who trains you and whether you're a self-starter. The way the company communicates info to the stores comes from all over the place and new internal apps they've launched are basically like Pandora's box. Lots of operational and policy changes happening that places a lot more responsibility on the stores with no increase in hours or staffing. Some in-store systems are totally dated and frustratingly slow. Depending on the dynamics of the store it can be very difficult to deal with toxic staff, managers etc and HR is not always helpful with resolutions. Salaries depend on the size of the store/how much money it makes regardless of experience.

    I have been working at Mark's part-time

    Pros

    Good people and flexible work schedule. They have good product with an average employee discount. They do support staff who want to advance.

    Cons

    Company is trying to maximize sales with minimal staff. This is affecting staff moral and customer service. The stores are starting to look messy because there is not enough time to do everything.
