I worked at Market Basket (NJ) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good money with hourly wage & tips, work in a lot of different houses for mostly really nice clients

    Cons

I was treated horribly by other "seasoned" servers on the job, one in particular put me down on every single job I worked with him even in front of clients and then went ahead and made up rumors about me to management so I would be fired. While working for The Market Basket I witnessed their long time employees drink as well as steal food etc. I have worked in catering for many many years and have never dealt with such unprofessionalism. Also, I ran into a client who told me they requested me for a party but were told I was not available although I was. Everything is politics and nepotism.

    Advice to Management

Be loyal to good employees who always make clients happy. Reevaluate your long time employees, they are the ones drinking and stealing

I worked at Market Basket (NJ) part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Was a fun place to work while in high school. They hire many young people to work there and it's a good place to meet nice people and have a good time at work. The staff are all super friendly and t was fun going into work every day.

    Cons

Can have a lot of drama because of the fact that there's a lot of young people. Management wasn't the best and had to work long hours on your feet

    Pros

This company is not just your normal supermarket chain. They strive for excellence in customer service, and always look to get the lowest prices for their customers. They are always looking for young people, and since the company is currently expanding, there is usually plenty of room for growth in the company. The pay was very good (Sundays are always time-and-a-half), and most of the managers were fairly competent. Bonuses and profit sharing come to those that have been with the company for long enough, as well.

    Cons

It certainly isn't a glorifying job, to say the least. The hours can be long and tough sometimes, as well. There are some parts of the store that they will continually "put band-aids" on to try and save money. A good example of this was when our freezer door handle broke, it was fixed so it would work, but only barely. A couple of weeks later, it broke again, and finally they called someone out to fix it.
