    I worked at MarketSource part-time

    Pros

I loved interacting with guests, helping them find what they need, all while helping them with their phone plans. I enjoyed working in the electronics department, as I knew where things were and could ring up guests quickly and in a timely manner. My immediate department manager at Grossmont (After having gone through 3 prior managers) was very organized and helped me whenever possible. I really enjoyed working alongside her. She taught me a lot whilst working there. It's too bad she got transferred. I did like the fact that it was close to home.

    Cons

I began my employment at Rancho San Diego, went through 4 managers whilst there, and was transferred to Grossmont and went through 3 managers before they had a great woman come be the manager(see above).
A certain coworker gossiping, making fun of those of us who suffered from mental illness, & actually caused one co-worker to quit. She was rude to just about everyone; especially to me and the manager. I was forced to quit because of her (I was the second one forced to quit). DM did nothing to stop it or try to keep me on.

    Advice to Management

I had a great DM, but he was hardly ever available to help when we had problems. If anyone had questions, or couldn't help a customer, or if the system was on the fritz, it was difficult to get ahold of him. In fact, he changed his cell phone number and did NOT tell anyone. If we were to be a TEAM, the DM should NOT change the schedule without telling your employees! That happened a lot. He should NEVER have put those employees who messed up, or made mistakes or didn't reach their sales goals on blast on GroupMe, as this was a public humiliation for those particular employees. That was even more of a common occurrence. The sales goals were also VERY unreasonable. Managers and higher-ups need to learn communication skills. They should learn to encourage their employees, rather than publicly shame those who mess up. We ALL make mistakes. Nobody's perfect. We get that. Also, regarding store behavioral conduct: do something about those who create hostile work environments for others, instead of ignoring it! Thank you. That is all.

    Pros

you get a bonus quarterly, so far i havent had any major issues with the job. you do got to learn the stores you visit, as various stores have different inventories. it can be a lot to take on, but once you got it down the job isn't too hard. pay isn't terrible, could be better. hours are flexible from what i've seen.

    Cons

no travel compensation if you're covering large distances. pay isn't terrible but could be a lot better considering the hours are typically in the 20 hour/weekly range.

I have been working at MarketSource full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, work life balance, dress code, free coffee

    Cons

NO 401K match, no career opportunities, favoritism, average pay, no training and development.

    Advice to Management

There is flexibility and a decent work life balance, which is nice. However, there is blatant favoritism and if you don't fit the mold, there is zero career advancement. The max you can hit on your bonus is 80% and it is all subjective. There are no real opportunities for growth and development training for individual contributors due to "lack of budget". There is no 401k match, so how can you expect to retain talent long term? The culture has really taken a hit with the growth and change over the past few years.

I have been working at MarketSource full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for Whirlpool is first class, treat you as a Whirlpool employee not a 3pl employee. Opportunities to transfer to Whirlpool if relocatable and have a 4 year degree.

    Cons

Marketsource is a below average 3rd party company hiding in the shadows of great clients like Whirlpool, Honda and IBM. They loose clients all the time due to poor relationships and treatment of their workforce. Their turnover is crazy.

    Advice to Management

Offer better benefits to employees, 401k is a joke, HR department is soulless and gutless.

I worked at MarketSource part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Well streamlined processes and apps
    Good training
    Good support

    Cons

Sometimes questionable decisions made on who to promote
Mobile reps are promised full-time hours, but are all technically part-time (to my boss' credit, he helped supplement hours at other stores for me)

    Advice to Management

Be forthright with employees about their part-time status. Take a harder look at what qualities you want in future managers.

Keep pushing forward with the current culture and business model. Much more is going right in the company than wrong!
