I have been working at Marks Paneth as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

The main reason why I like working here is because the people are really great to be around. My colleagues are so helpful and all the partners, managers, and upper level management are all readily available to answer my questions. The firm offers various resources to help you be successful. The firm gives employees a lot of perks employee appreciation days throughout the year. Lastly all professionals are held to a high standard but work in a relaxing environment where micromanaging is not something that is common.

    Cons

Honestly have not had any reason to say anything bad.

I worked at Marks Paneth full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of exposure to different audit areas and interactions with client. Small firm culture used to be a plus here but that's ancient history.

    Cons

The Partners get bullied around by their clients being forced to make unreasonable deadlines. This then falls on the audit team to complete the fieldwork to get a 3-4 week audit completed in less than 2. This results in employees working Big 4 hours without the pay. Working until 10pm-2am is not irregular during busy seasons.

    Advice to Management

If work life balance is something HR preaches the. Set reasonable expectations that actually allow all employees to enjoy a life outside of work. If working until midnight was something we wanted we would be working for the Big 4 and making 10-15k more per year and be able to add Big 4 experience to our resumes not a firm outside the top 30.
