    Pros

not so much overtime, work/life balance considered good for a cpa firm

pressure for billable hours but not enough billable work during non busy season (6-9 months) for many managers & even staff. lack of management from the top down. no identifiable culture or team feel.

    Advice to Management

senior management is invisible. never even met the head honcho. this doesn't serve morale well.

    Pros

The pay is decent and you have a lot of free time to do your schoolwork

    Cons

There is not enough room available for you to sit and it can also be difficult to find work to do, especially during busy season. Many people are too busy to assign you work.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that interns are able to get enough work each day to fill their hourly schedule.

I worked at Marks Paneth full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of exposure to different audit areas and interactions with client. Small firm culture used to be a plus here but that's ancient history.

    Cons

The Partners get bullied around by their clients being forced to make unreasonable deadlines. This then falls on the audit team to complete the fieldwork to get a 3-4 week audit completed in less than 2. This results in employees working Big 4 hours without the pay. Working until 10pm-2am is not irregular during busy seasons.

    Advice to Management

If work life balance is something HR preaches the. Set reasonable expectations that actually allow all employees to enjoy a life outside of work. If working until midnight was something we wanted we would be working for the Big 4 and making 10-15k more per year and be able to add Big 4 experience to our resumes not a firm outside the top 30.
