I have been working at Marley Engineered Products full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Easy to shine with even a bit of talent.

    Cons

Focus has been on cost savings rather than new product development. Accrued vacation (start at 0) for new hires and is only 2 weeks for all (even 10 + years experience).

    Advice to Management

Invest in new product development before it is too late. Stop not-replacing headcount and spreading the load to others....results in a lot of nothing getting done well or completely.

I worked at Marley Engineered Products full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The majority of the people are nice. Nothing else good to say but apparently this section isn't long enough to submit.

    Cons

An inhospitable culture. Management is negative, rude and at times incompetent. They will lie to you about your schedule to get you there and then demand you work more and more. No work-life balance. No support. The HR department doesn't appear to do anything.

    Advice to Management

Clean house (upper management). Invest in the people and equipment instead of trying to cut every cost possible and then asking why everyone is exhausted and everything is broken. You will not be able to keep any talent in the near future.

    Pros

I started out as an intern for IT, then I was later on promoted to a FTE - I learned a lot from fellow coworkers, which got me to where I am now in life. Great culture, everyone is very friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Too much red tape, MEP facility is no longer a corporate office as it used to be

    Pros

The people are generally nice and the President is great! Good place to start your career but not a long term employer.

    Cons

No work life balance. No career advancement opportunities. Good ole boy network.

Business is very cyclical and growth is flat.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who can do the job, not college buddies and friends.

I have been working at Marley Engineered Products full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall I think the bulk of the employees are great and care a lot. Good products, but dated. Great Reps for sales. Dicent 401k and average benefits for corporate size.

    Cons

NO on-site upper management for years now. Average to below support from corporate parent SPX. Very rural location so talent is hard to get, and they don't make much effort to retain or promote. Pay is below scale and I haven't gotten an above cost of living raise in several years.

    Advice to Management

What management? The long term middle managers run the place. If we had our own President and not a shared one that's never invested in us, we could do great things. My advice for corporate, put a VP in the building and let them learn what we could do!

I worked at Marley Engineered Products as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

We work for a great amount of overtime

    Cons

The dis advantage of proper training to operate their machines' full potential

    Advice to Management

Be more impartial professionally, than to be personal in the business of operations.

    Pros

Great people, decent talent, and a good market share. The business is profitable. Marley has one of the best independent rep sales forces in the market.

    Cons

Stagnant product line with little R&D. The company has been coasting along without investing in itself. The SPX corporate culture is a burden on the organization that is felt all the way to the factory floor.

    Advice to Management

The company is made up of a lot of great people and makes quality products. Invest a little in growing the product offering or the competition will continue to take share.
