I worked at Marriott full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good at honoring requests for days off and flexible schedule. Most co workers are pleasant to work with some managers are nice

    Cons

Upper management not that bright. Department directors think they are better than regular employees no communication from upper management always working holidays

    Advice to Management

Listen to the bottom people on the totem pole. They don't sit in offices and they are the ones who actually deal with the guests

I have been working at Marriott full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is extremely professional and hardworking. Most employees have a very positive attitude, the managers are extremely helpful and try really hard to make sure that there is more of a family feel to the work environment.

    Cons

I have no cons really. Of course like any other job, this one can get busy, some of the customers can be hard to deal with and of course making sure that other people feel comfortable is never easy, but all of that is a given with any job. In conclusion, to work at the Marriott Courtyard in Charlotte Ballantyne is a great opportunity, and if that opportunity ever presents itself, you should definitely take it.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing a great job! You guys are awesome

I worked at Marriott full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employee benefits, full time hours, above average pay for entry level position, There was always a manager or supervisor for every shift

    Cons

Stressful job because of the clientele, lack of support and assistance from supervisors and managers at times, opinionated coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Provide a better support system to your front line staff when you can sense they are having difficulties with specific guests or situations. Provide encouraging advice and coach when to better your employees for future success.

I worked at Marriott full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people and atmosphere is great. Management, benefits and pay was great.

    Cons

Corporate companies are hard to work for, constant annoying changes and sometimes the change makes the situation worse. One ex : Restaurant employees now have to wait 2 weeks for a check so all the CC tips can automatically be taxed. Servers and bartenders are in the industry to have their tips that day not 2 weeks later

    Advice to Management

The guest are important not your meal coming out on time, just for you to close it out to an account. Do more for the employees. Doubletree was a smaller hotel and had bonus, rewards and free trips for each employee but with Marriott you had to win it in a drawing
