    Pros

If you love working one-on-one with youth, enjoy sales, and value working for a well-respected company, this position is for you. The hours are flexible and the work is rewarding because you are helping high school youth, with diverse learning styles, prepare for their first job. You are exposed to a variety of jobs and gain insight into how companies operate.

    Cons

The positions are funded by local and federal grants, so it's important to reach annual placement goals.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Marriott Foundation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Schedule flexibility; Excellent Training; Excellent Benefits and Hotel Perks; Supportive Management. Also, helping transitional aged youth with disabilities makes you feel good every single day you come to work. You know that you make a difference in not only the lives of the students you serve, but the communities in which they live and the businesses where they work.

    Cons

Limited career mobility in this department. However, there are many opportunities that you could easily access if you work in the hotels.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Marriott Foundation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Employer Representatives help youth with disabilities find employment - a very important and rewarding cause. The individual offices have great dedicated staff.

    Cons

Executives in DC are disconnected from those in the field. Very top heavy salary-wise so those doing the actual work make less than $45k/year. Heavy turnover after 1-2 years due to poor salary and executives would rather waste time and resources (and lose the important connection between ER and the youth) training new people than keep their dedicated staff. There is little opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

I agree with previous poster, spend time in the field to learn what the foundation actually does and how hard the ERs are working.

    Pros

Its is an agency for those right out of college wishing to have experience in the social service field. The work is noble and you have an opportunity to assist special needs youth transition to the work world after high school.

    Cons

The training is adequate. The management has never worked in the field and has little to no experience in what employer representative doing daily. The emphasis is always on goals and numbers and it does not take into consideration then the needs of the participants.

    Advice to Management

Spend time in the field. Reduce some communication on goals and numbers and more on quality case work.
