I worked at Marriott International full-time

    Pros

*Working with a great team. Both front & back of the house
*Ability to have a gym on site for just employees
    *Employee Recognition

    Cons

Like all hotels, hospitality doesn't sleep so there were some over night stays when there were weather advisories. (time away from the family)

I worked at Marriott International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Healthcare benefits and discounts on food/hotels

    Cons

No control over days or shifts (am or pm). Low pay. Job training and no consistency in front desk staff. Lengthy, useless, boring 8 hr a day for 2 weeks online training! Work lounge needs a makeover. Poorly designed work flow for front and back office. Archaic systems.

    Advice to Management

Pay workers more. Allow for improvements and ideas to be heard. Think and look "outside of the box"

    Cons

HQ office space is a little tired and not well located (though they did renovate the lobby and cafe areas, and those were great)

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best thing about this company is that if you're willing to be patient and put in your time and have ambition, you WILL be able to make a career with consistent promotions. The work is busy, as with many positions in the hospitality industry, but it is fast and most days fly by.

    Cons

With this position, the hours can be pretty terrible and long. You are paid hourly, and are considered an entry level manager without any previous experience. You will no doubt be working a majority of the holidays (christmas, july 4th, new years eve) and have to work many Friday and Saturday night shifts which are the most difficult in terms of customer base. Make sure to befriend your bosses boss, as he/she will be the one to propel you to another position after your program is over.

    Advice to Management

Keep the shifts fully staffed and make a rotating schedule so that employees know the exact days that they will have off. Empower your associates, do not micromanage.

    Pros

All in all I have gained a lot of experience in the job and have had the opportunity to work with people from different countries with different languages and customs.

    Cons

Sometimes due hasty decisions by management to retructure personnel, can get rid of the wrong person.

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Money is good, Tips, Overtime, and benefits i.e. dental, No Two Marriotts Are the same, You can make the job as demanding or as non demanding as you want, Great Guests and experiences lead to friendships and connections. Culture is fun and exciting.

    Cons

If you have bad managers your life will be very difficult, they have so much influence on your duties if they want. Additionally good Coworkers need to be there because you work together bad coworkers = bad property, No two Marriotts are the same, When you have a bad guest it makes life difficult

    Advice to Management

Management should consider when hiring how difficult new team members can be for other employees the front desk needs to work together. Additionally managers need to stand behind their employees

    Pros

I work with great people from all over the world and employee benefits are great, too.

    Cons

Most departments in the hotel requires you to be on your feet for at least 8 hours a day. Its definitely not your ordinary 9-5 jobs.

    Advice to Management

Allow your staff to control their own destiny a little more. Don't focus so much on your hours but on what is needed to satisfy the guests that are in the hotel. Full time employees should get their 40 hours. Other than that keep up the good work...
