Plenty of training to help employees advance in their careers
Easy to be promoted with hard work and commitment to company (2-3 years minimum)
Higher level jobs obtainable with degree

    Paid volunteering opportunities
Opportunities for cross-training into other departments

I worked at Marriott International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I always got along well with co-workers and the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge was a beautiful property to work at. We had great benefits that I made use of whenever available.

    Cons

During the summer, my opening shifts started at 4am and since we worked outside, we would all bring our own sunscreen and drinks to stay hydrated (it was typically over 100 degrees). The food in the cafeteria was really cheap and convenient but could have been a bit better.

    Advice to Management

During summer hours, provide free drinks, sunscreen, and more shaded areas for employees who work outside

    Cons

sometimes work long hours and many consecutive days. In general a good company to work for that I recommend to others

    Advice to Management

Management could hire more people , find qualified applicants more quickly. I would also like to see more recycling programs.

    Pros

Liked my co workers. Liked working for a strong brand.

    Cons

I was salaried and they worked us too much with no overtime. Hourly front desk given no breaks. Unfair treatment and lack of respect for employees by this management company.

    Advice to Management

Follow laws with regard to overtime and breaks for hourly staff.

    Pros

medical benefits and the people that you work with.

    Cons

Low pay, inconsistent schedule, and constantly being asked to do more with less.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the employee's who put in the time and the effort to do their job. I believe that the Marriott has lost it ways of taking care of the employee's. This company is all about finding ways to save an extra dollar or two at the expense of the employee's.
