I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discounts (cheap hotels as low as $19 on certain nights all over the world), medical and retirement benefits, PTO, company values, and opportunity to move up or change job titles

    Cons

Company cares more about income than their employees, it is a front line employee's "job" to get yelled out, according to corporate.

    Advice to Management

Your front line employees are just as important as management and sales, believe it or not. You can run a hotel without sales and events specialists but you can't run a hotel without the front desk and housekeeping. Remember where you started.

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most managers genuinely care for employees. Benefits are very competitive, great 401k with company match. Company has great values that most properties stand behind.

    Cons

If you happen to work for a manager that isn't accommodating things can be a little rough. Company has gotten so big that the overall values of the company are not lived out at some properties. Schedules can be awful with no consistency. Hours can be long.

    Advice to Management

Adjust expectations regarding hours and scheduling for managers. Millennials are not going to be willing to work 60-70 hour weeks like previous generations. Show employees you value their work/life balance and their time with their families.
