I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

401(k), health insurance, vision, dental, choices in affordable healthcare, free short term disability and 12 weeks maternity leave. The ability to live and work any where in the world and now even more opportunities available due to the acquisition of the Starwood Hotels. The Employee Federal Credit Union has also been a great financial move as well.

    Cons

Not easy to get into from the outside as they like to hire from within but once one has their foot in the door, your possibilities are endless.

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work at least 40 hours a week

    Cons

Overworked, understaffed, underpaid. There's never enough clean linen or cleaning supplies for everyone. One of the maintenance men goes into the rooms before we are able to and steals our tips. I have continually been told that I will be able to move to front desk or breakfast, but they just keep hiring new people for those positions. The hotel that I work at is ranked 900 something out a little over 1,000 Marriott hotels. They blame the low cleanliness scores on the housekeepers. I could clean one room from top to bottom for four hours and it still would not put us any higher in the rankings. There are stains in all of the rooms, the walls are disgusting, and there is mold in all of the showers, but they just cover it with caulk. This hotel needed to be renovated years ago.

    Advice to Management

Hire from within, or at least inform your employees of when other positions in the hotel open up. Stop blaming housekeepers for low scores.
