I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health benefits, discounts at all properties, lots of opportunity for internal growth. Great staff, awesome managers. Young multicultural peers and supervisors.

    Cons

The only con I can think of for working for marriot is the intensive training but if it makes my service superior, I'm into it.

    Advice to Management

You're doing a great job. You listen, you motivate, and you promote from within. What I would like to see though is a 401k matching program.

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits and core values. Great Corporate leaders. Clear vision and goals.

    Cons

The work at times can be overbearing but at end of day I love what I do. Globalized pay rates for staff would be great as it seems the your worth and pay varies depending on the market, but I believe a people first organization should keep associates pay the same or at least in competition with the large markets hotels and cities. Clear career paths that include mentorship for those wanting to advance there carrier and take it to the next level

    Advice to Management

Strive to have a great balance of emotional intelligence. Seems more managers care more about their jobs then actually caring for those they are helping or managing. Instead of giving inspirational speech's all the time, its ok to take off the suite jacket and lend a hand all awhile inspiring by leading by example. Far to often when a questions brought up to senior management they tend to respond with another question rather then answering what they would do or how they would handle the situation.

I worked at Marriott International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Compensation (good pay, benefits, time off)
    Discounted hotels.

    Cons

Good ole boys corporate culture and resulting structure.
Compensation (leaving you in golden handcuffs/hard to make a move).
Lack of learning and advancement opportunities.
Very siloed professional development, generating a very specialized skill-set unique to the corporate Marriott systems (ie. Very little translatable skills. Value increases within company, but not in the overall job market, which makes it very tough to find another job when your time comes).

    Advice to Management

I really wish I would have had opportunities to learn, expand myself and my skills, apply my creative mind, and stay with Marriott. I wish that I would not have felt like a simple cog in a machine mindlessly doing the same tasks daily. I wish someone would have taken the time to ensure I believed in what I was doing/could take pride in my work, was continuing to be challenged, instead of just piling on more tasks pushing an incessantly unrealistic workload with quantity being all that mattered.
In short, increase the focus on quality for your employees; give them the help they need to succeed, so that the company can succeed in turn.

    Pros

Friendly work environment. Employee and service focused company with many opportunities for transition and advancement. Great benefits including discounts in services.

I have been working at Marriott International part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only benefit is you get cheaper room rates. (Not guaranteed ) sometimes they lets you eat scraps leftover from breakfast...

    Cons

Management is not looking out for employees interests whatsoever. They do not follow through with giving reviews on employees nor do they honor raises even after you've been granted them. They do not provide a living wage and have no interest in doing so.

    Advice to Management

You should consider doing more to make your employees able to survive in general.
