I worked at Mars as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

As an IT intern, you'll learn a lot. Very respectful work environment. I enjoyed the Mars work experience very much. I will continue to seek employment at Mars.

    Cons

Very tight on increasing head count. IT budget for IT employees themselves seemed tight. No separate tech area to do work, such as taking apart and reassembling laptops. In IT, you'll be a contractor a long time before becoming a Mars employee, that is IF they hire you. The service desk call management system is in Brazil, so calls get routed there first then back to the Mars locations.

    Advice to Management

    none

I have been working at Mars (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good medical benefits. Free candy to eat while you sit in front of your computer.

    Cons

Old ways, inefficient processes, which creates much stress from constant shifts of the mind. People complain about being worn out and micro managed.

    Advice to Management

Develop talent and cultivate the values that are representative of ownership. Create a truly dynamic culture by either retraining managers, or getting rid of them...many have not changed with the times. Be careful of nepotism and chronyism, it's not in the best interests of ownership.
