    Pros

Great benefits, good PTOs, lots of company discounts.

    Cons

Constant change of department direction, management, cannot retain good employees, terrible exit interview approach. Performance review largely based on sales goal % on an account management position.

    Advice to Management

Should evaluate staff's performance based on the individual's work load and performance, not the overall office production and/or the entire Marsh USA sales production. Employees do not feel they are being valued.

    Pros

Clean office, plays bingo every blue moon, quiet office (Call Center type of Office) with and without calls.

    Cons

Get REAL: If you pay a contract worker a wage of $19.00/hr (39K) for a 1yr contract. Then attempt to hire them after 3 months with an undesirable wage of $12.94/hr (28K) NO Thank you!

    Advice to Management

    1. Look into being more transparent from the start. 2. No one likes to be lied to! 3. Pay a decent wage if you wish to stop the revolving door.

    Pros

Management is willing invest in continuing education, however, be aware that it is expected to be completed on your own time.

    Cons

Poor middle management, lack of transparency on decisions, performance review process is biased and not focused on merits, lack of investment in resources to help you do your job well, organization-wide/systemic problem, and opportunity for advancement is minimal at best. Overall, culture is selfish and focused on results only.

    Advice to Management

The profit generating business is not the only employee that matters. There are other employees that deserve to be recognized and taken care of for their effort. People are not stupid, treat them well, provide transparency in decision making and they will respect that. Management should practice what is preached.

    Pros

a regular paycheck is about all you can look forward to

    Cons

Croneyism, no accountability at senior levels, mid/juniors are continuously scapegoated for management poor or lack of decisions. Seniors regularly steal credit for subordinates' work "Collateral Duties" is a catch-all phrase which, when decoded, means that you have to work long hours with no hope of recognition or compensation to mitigate senior managements' mistakes

    Advice to Management

Replace the current leadership team with new blood and break up the old boys' network

    Pros

    Good credential in the market

    Cons

    DO NOT join Marsh!
    Why?
    1) Micro Management
    2) Lack of Planning / Direction from Management and Leaders - so hiring qualified (over-qualified resources) and then layoffs - ultimately putting employees / contractors careers in risk
    3) MARSH IT / Business Team - doesn't know which direction they are going in
    4) No appreciation at all for the sincere efforts put in by associates
    5) No flexibility at all in terms of flex hours / flex location work

    Advice to Management

Company Appears stable. Flexible on work hours for some the company name carries weight when trying to move on to another organization

    Cons

1 percent raises if at all. Heavy workload. Every man for himself mentality. If you are not part of the in crowd forget about it.

    Advice to Management

Look at your mid level team leadership really closely and you are likely to find where the divide is

I worked at Marsh & McLennan Companies full-time

    Pros

The benefits are good, but not a lot of clear communication from HR. Great co-workers. They think that they are progressive because they provide snacks and beverages for employees.!

    Cons

Management is clueless. No training, no clear procedures, no work load balance. They expect you to work nights and weekends and then do not appreciate when you do. The good people are starting to leave, and are being replaced with kids, who are inexperienced. It is sad to see how quickly it is going down hill. No appreciation for loyal, hardworking employees. They just dump more on you, and as they are not experienced, they do not understand how to help you. They only care about "A" accounts/clients, and top selling producers. The management team is a joke. They lie straight to your face. All about control and favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Start treating employees as human beings and appreciate the experienced, hard working employees. Start telling the truth. Stop looking at Best practices and start using common sense. Listen to your clients and to your employees. Get rid of toxic "managers" who are destroying morale.
