      Pros

I have been with Marsh for 10+ years. It is a good company to work for because it provides good benefits, offers work/life balance and engagement amongst the departments.

      Cons

I do not have any to list.

      Pros

Good benefits and time off. Excellent work/life balance. They prefer you not to work overtime if you are a non-exempt employee.

      Cons

No career trajectory. Lack of recognition. Promotions not based on achievement. Those who deserve promotions do not get it because only a certain number of people per department can get it a year. Getting promoted from Risk Analyst is a pay cut because you go from non-exempt to exempt and are therefore ineligible for overtime. Too many team leaders that serve no purpose. Unfair treatment between those with and without children. No training. Risk Analyst formal training program is non-existent. This spring, there was a huge mass exodus of young people leaving for competitors or going back to school. Pay is okay for a starting salary but salaries are frozen and bonuses are minimal. Brokers hoard their accounts and are unwilling to give opportunities to young people because they need a minimum amount of revenue tied to their names. No opportunities to move to other departments. Stuck where you are!

      Benefits good, workload is extreme

      Pros

Good benefits, though the employee contribution has increased dramatically. Lots of online learning resources, but you'll never have time to use them.

      Cons

Running too lean for too long, EVERYTHING is driven by increasing shareholder value. Managers not permitted to hire to fill vacant positions, which increases workload for everyone else, no time for planning, just reacting to stay afloat. Mgmt plays games with incentives so people think they are qualified and then another office's bad numbers are combined with ours to drag ours down at review time. I/T makes decisions in a vacuum, spending boatloads of money on inefficient and clumsy technology.

      Pros

It's a great company that encourages career growth, has global opportunities, and good benefits. I enjoy my position and I am proud to be a part of a global company that supports my career and personal goals as well as my family.

      Cons

It is a very large company that can be a bit cumbersome to navigate at times but there is always a highly skilled colleague who is friendly and willing to assist. I honestly, have not encountered even one con since my small, local company was acquired by Marsh. I would recommend anyone who has an interest or experience in the financial or insurance market to seriously consider Marsh as a long-term career opportunity.

Marsh has a long way to go

      Pros

-The people. Many of the people who work in the Austin office take much pride in their work, even though it's rarely recognized by Corporate -Good benefits/vacation policy -Career growth: if you know what you want and ask for it, opportunities are available. Your career is what you make of it at Marsh -Austin leaders are smart, positive and progressive -Great place to grow and shape your resume, but not a place for long-term career advancement -Large disconnect between local Austin office and Corporate

      Cons

-Compensation is obscenely low, minimal raises. You know something's wrong when the referral bonus is almost double your R&R bonus -Austin office feels like the "bottom of the food chain" -Senior corporate leaders -Rigid work culture -Stagnant growth -Low pay is justified by keeping employees "dumbed down" instead of empowering them -Salary is non-negotiable -It takes a long time for meaningful change to happen

      Pros

Good pay, good benefits, lots of opportunity for promotion, great colleagues, team oriented atmosphere, good PTO, worldwide sustainable company that is financially in good order.

      Cons

You feel like a number, rather than a person. Company is almost too big. Promotional opportunities require relocation for a lot of people.

      Pros

People I work with are great and my bosses have never micromanaged. Marsh gives you the tools to do your job. Marsh has really good benefits.

      Cons

Pay increases are very small and sometimes you go a few years without an increase. There is not any work from home flexibility.

      Pros

I liked my time at Marsh overall. Good work life balance. Good perks. Good benefits.

      Cons

I felt the pay was below other company’s levels and they were always pivoting their “focus” for my team every 3-6 months
