    Pros

    Apparently there is nothing good about here that I would recommend people to join.

    Cons

    Everyone doesn't seem to know their job / processes. They shirk responsibilities, doesn't show any professionalism, having conflicts internally. A lot of redundant processes and manual work

    Advice to Management

    To look for the right people. Dismiss people who doesn't show professionalism or work well. Do not show favouritism. Is this what an organisation should be operating in? Please look into wages and employee benefits.

    Approves of CEO

    I have been working at Marshall Cavendish Int full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    If you are the blue-eyed boy/girl, you'll remain unscathed, no matter what you do or say.

    Cons

    Assume a role that the management knows nothing about yet want to have and you'll end up handling all the work that does not fall into anyone's purview.

    Advice to Management

    Put the right people in the right roles. Groundwork matters.
    Appreciate the people who do real work. Talk is really and honestly, quite cheap.

    Pros

    Cheap food and some nice people to work with..

    Cons

    Low pay, no career progression, no appreciation of staff, poor business direction of the organisation, get outside people for more senior positions rather than promoting 'older' staff

    Advice to Management

    learn to value and appreciate your staff by promoting them or giving them salaries that they deserve, else more and more people will leave

    I worked at Marshall Cavendish Int full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    A few nice colleagues who have been bullied into the same situation. Otherwise, no pros at all.

    Cons

    Politics, politics, politics!
    Super long working hours (up to 2am is normal). No overtime pay. Expected to work over the weekend or during public holidays. If leaving work earlier than 9pm, need to ask for permission or be prepared to be called back to office while on the way home.
    Senior management is a bunch of Hitlers.
    Job scope might change without informing. Will also get reprimanded if not performing well in new job scope. No training provided either, expected to know everything.
    Direction from management changes frequently. Sometimes twice a day. It has come to a point where instructions/directions are so mixed up, nobody knows which is the latest.
    Salary is given just right above the minimum wage that allows you to claim OT.
    Colleagues are either in the same boat or backstabs you to save themselves.
    Cannot laugh or talk during work. Toilet break is a maximum of 2 1/2 minutes.

    Advice to Management

    What's the use? Already highlighted all these issues a long time ago. Nothing has been done and never will.

    Pros

    - young colleagues
    - get to learn and hone editing techniques
    - nice colleagues

    Cons

    - I edited primary school materials which can be boring after awhile.
    - Politics
    - some senior editors who are former teachers were not very competent, since they had no prior editing experience

    Advice to Management

    - promote existing editors instead of hiring teachers with no prior editing experience for more senior positions

    I worked at Marshall Cavendish Int full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Colleagues come from diverse backgrounds and are relatively young, I.e fresh grads or those with one or two years of experience.

    Cons

    The increments were terrible...I've heard of cases where people got about 1% increment

    Advice to Management

    Look after your staff, recognize their contributions or they will leave

    I have been working at Marshall Cavendish Int full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Proximity to MRT (Serangoon, Paya Lebar and Bartley)
    Some good colleagues

    Cons

    Located in Industrial area where the nearest ATMs are located in MRT stations;
    Long working hours, crazy deadlines, no overtime pay and few off-in-lieu although staff are expected to work overtime or over the weekend;
    Lack of standard procedures and training (staff are expected to be trained on the job because the orientation is usually conducted months after joining);
    Growth prospects and career progression within the company is slow because subsequent levels are often filled by hiring out of the company;
    Direction from management changes frequently;
    Air conditioning is too cold in some parts of the office

    Advice to Management

    Please revamp the welfare and treasure/appreciate your in-house employees more.

    Pros

    You are spreading knowledge around the world through your work and publications! How cool is that!
    Appreciative colleagues that understand & empathise with each other.

    Cons

    -Colleagues & supervisors that understand & empathise with each other but cannot do anything for fear of being reprimanded.
    -The politicking & back stabbing culture in management, divisions & departments that eventually will have you caught-up in the crossfire.
    -'Are you with me or with them' group culture.
    -Long working hours (9.75 hrs x 5-day week) with overtime work on weekends and up to early mornings (eg 3.00am)expected to be performed during peak periods.
    -Salary does not match workload.
    -Be prepared to perform work beyond your job scope, sacrifice your dignity, self esteem and privacy

    Advice to Management

    Take a good look at your mission statement and practice what you preach.
