I have been working at Marshalls part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are really nice. flexible hours and sorta decent pay.

    Cons

lack of communication between the management. Alot of favortism show toward certain workers, regardless of the years you have worked. We are suppose to be taught all areas of the store, but once they get you into a certain position, you are not taken out of that position so that you can learn all aspects of the store. Honesty is so important from Management so that a real trust can be established. But in our store, Management has been caught in lies and you have no one to talk to that you can trust.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with the employees and treat everyone equally. Stop showing prejudice toward certain people, and favortism has no place in the work place, especially from Management. Divide the hours equally between all employees. We all need the money, not just certain individuals.

I have been working at Marshalls part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Marshalls, I have met some of the most amazing co workers who are simply awesome people. The work environment is sometimes friendly and the customers in my area are generally pleasant.

    Cons

Not enough pay for all the work anybody in any department does. Floor people are constantly pushing merchandise and are expected to have a spotless department by the end of their shift. Cashiers are pushed to be aggressive about TJX credit cards. Some managers rely heavily on favoritism distributing unequal amounts of shifts to employees. Some employees are treated differently based on the manager's personal bias. Customer service seems to be less important than selling tj's. Not worth the stress

    Advice to Management

To all levels of management, selling credit cards should not be your main priority. As an employee and a customer, constantly pushing me to open a credit card does not make me want to open a credit card. Customer service should be pushed more than credit cards. Management should be heavily monitored so each employee is treated fairly. Also the incentives for opening these credit cards are ridiculous. The incentives are not worth the same as us making you tons of money with these credit cards.

    Pros

    - You get a 20% discount sometimes.

    Cons

    - If you're not loud and an extrovert the managers will treat you like crap.
    - If you request days off the managers will be mad at you for weeks.
    - Managers allow employees to bully other employees without any consequences.
    - Horrible schedules. One week you get 5 days with 8 hours shifts. The next week you only get 1 day with 4 hours.
    - They say everyone has a cleaning shift at least once but it's always the same 4 people.
    - Managers hold grudges like children.

    Advice to Management

Treat ALL of your employees like people, not just the ones you think are fun.

I have been working at Marshalls part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I definitely enjoyed the flexibility of schedules and how I was able to request days off if needed. I would say it is great for those beginning in retail and the environment is friendly. Annual raises but I would say if you put in the work over the course of the year the raise is awesome, but that's only due to starting at minimum wage, but I would say pretty decent.

    Cons

Hard to move up in position for those hoping to advance towards management, I had to sadly watch a friend be promised advancement but was never given the full potential to be one. And definitely one thing I dislike is selling cards and being overly pushy.
