I worked at Marshalls part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Awesome vibes. Discounts. You see new products. Store is in a great location. Good breaks. Almost no dress code.

    Cons

Low pay. What you do there is worth more pay. Long hours on your feet. Little to no recognition. Unorganized.

    Advice to Management

Bump up the salary, the multiple tasks your employees do is worth more than that. A miserable Old Navy, Supermarket and others pay more for an easier job.

    I worked at Marshalls part-time

    Pros

First to see products coming in
    Free lay-a-way

    Cons

Employee discount in my city doesn't cover sales tax
    Often times short staff

    Advice to Management

I would consider lowering ticket prices to the absolute lowest, such as many big retail companies (Target, Hope Depot, etc) do, to clear end of season items. Also, I would add the ability to look for items at different locations and give customers the opportunity to pay their credit card payments in store.

I worked at Marshalls part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good retail sales job. The managers were helpful and warm for the 4 years I worked there. Flexible with scheduling. Willing to train and help you grow within the company if that's what you seek.

    Cons

I always wanted more hours when I worked there but as a part timer they give you what they "got." When I mentioned wanting more time to work they did make the adjustment but still, not full time.

    Advice to Management

Open door policy, live it, love it!

I worked at Marshalls full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pros were that I was making $11/hour, which was really cool and the most I've ever made in retail before.

    Cons

Cons were that, when I stopped working there, they said they would mail my check to me. After a week I still didn't receive the check, so I called and managers kept telling me to wait. After about a month of waiting, I called again and a manager said they would be reissuing my check through the mail. It's been about, another two weeks since that call, and still no check. I've pretty much given up at this point and furthering my career in retail elsewhere.

Another con was that management was always confused about shifts and breaks and it was stressful.

    Advice to Management

    Stop mailing checks.

    Pros

Cool stuff, easy job. Not having standard stock made the job easier, as there was never more "in the back"

    Cons

Management is completely unorganized, employees are unmotivated, work is monotonous. Typical retail job.
