I worked at Marshalls plc - UK (More than a year)

    Pros

It's an easy job. You ask customers if they need help with anything (which is usually them asking for the dressing room, or where the Men's department is or something) and continue with your work. It's mainly just picking up clothes that fell and putting them back on the racks they fell from. Aside from that there's running racks to and from dressing rooms and putting out new merchandise. Management is great and co-workers fun.

    Cons

Minimum wage is okay as long as your'e in highschool or maybe college but as an adult you're scraping for pennies with that pay.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you do.

    Pros

Very friendly and good team atmosphere. Marshalls feels like a good place to be at the moment with the outlook looking positive. Best Companies "Ones to watch" and also named as a Super Brand again which is good.

    Cons

The business is changing with a new CEO in place, so any cons appear to be disappearing which is good.

    Advice to Management

As expected in large organisations we could be smarter in terms of standardising some policies and procedures.

    Pros

Company benefits, but even they have now been cut back. Good name in industry.

    Cons

Bullying management just seeking self promotion, Being lied to by management, false promises, rule via fear. Reports. reports, reports, reports............no time to get on with the real work.

    Advice to Management

Management need training and observing by upper management, listen to your staff. ADVICE: Do not fill in any confidential questionnaires as the management read them and know who you are! They will then find a way to get rid of you.

    Pros

Great co workers. Everyone pulls together to get the job done, despite low morale. Full sick pay for 12 weeks. Apart from this not a lot to be fair.

    Cons

Dickensian management, victimisation and bullying an everyday problem. Health and safety when it suits. Everyone is too scared of losing thier job to complain about anything, it's that kind of culture, beware!

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workforces concerns. They're not making issues up!

Market Leading brand, well managed and good to customers. Innovative culture. Well respected by customers, the people are geuinely good to work with

    Cons

Lack of structured career progression for those loking for it, level of administration. Benefits are poor e.g. Statutory maternity/paternity pay is dreadul for a company of Marshalls size.

    Advice to Management

Improve benefits for all employees and offer structured career development for those wanting it
