I have been working at Marshalls plc - UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The Organisation is constantly changing and adapting both to new technologies and new ways of working. Marshalls likes to promote from within to retain product knowledge and competitive advantage so there are many opportunities to grow with the business for the right individual, and not just in your specialist area, the door really is open for you to try new things.

    Cons

Better communication across the smaller business areas wouldn't be a bad thing.

    Pros

A good wage and that is all

    Cons

    Health both mentally and phisically

    Advice to Management

Paying workers excellent money does not give you the right to treat them as meat. Management have monopolised the positions of power leaving the operators trapped with issues they cannot raise for fear of being dismissed though cloak and dagger reports from management. Bullying is rife with the managment allowing it if it suits the situation to push someone to leave. All in all by looking at the reviews from years past this trend does not seem to be changing. For a company that promotes the charity MIND for mental awareness I find this insulting on behalf of the charity. Another clever ploy to deceive the outsider that all is ok.

Sad to see a company with such a high reputation treat the heart (operative) of the product so badly. The most frustrating is productitivity and quality could be better but with uncapable managment using operatives as cannon fodder to protect their own job things will never change.

My advice is unless you know the people you need to know, don’t work there.

    Pros

Job has good wages and that's it

    Cons

Worked for many years and Manager has a ring of protection that allows himself to get away with all sorts of bad stuff against staff to the point I'm heading right out of a job... HR department and some senior management all players in the plot against me. Family stressed to the max ...

    Advice to Management

Wake up to the wrong people in charge Mr Marshalls and restore the good name it once had over 15 years ago. Too late for me as have to leave !!!!Works mangers fabricating lies against me ....stressed out to the max,,,hey all that said we make a good slab and pavier blocks are top class. If I could score a zero I would for senior management

    Pros

Very friendly and good team atmosphere. Marshalls feels like a good place to be at the moment with the outlook looking positive. Best Companies "Ones to watch" and also named as a Super Brand again which is good.

    Cons

The business is changing with a new CEO in place, so any cons appear to be disappearing which is good.

    Advice to Management

As expected in large organisations we could be smarter in terms of standardising some policies and procedures.

    Pros

Company benefits, but even they have now been cut back. Good name in industry.

    Cons

Bullying management just seeking self promotion, Being lied to by management, false promises, rule via fear. Reports. reports, reports, reports............no time to get on with the real work.

    Advice to Management

Management need training and observing by upper management, listen to your staff. ADVICE: Do not fill in any confidential questionnaires as the management read them and know who you are! They will then find a way to get rid of you.

  10. "Was a good place to work at one time."

    Pros

Great co workers. Everyone pulls together to get the job done, despite low morale. Full sick pay for 12 weeks. Apart from this not a lot to be fair.

    Cons

Dickensian management, victimisation and bullying an everyday problem. Health and safety when it suits. Everyone is too scared of losing thier job to complain about anything, it's that kind of culture, beware!

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workforces concerns. They're not making issues up!
